Agreed. Tabasco is just spicy vinegar. Tapatio, Chalula, and La Victoria are preferable.

I far prefer Franks Red Hot.
Not particularly spicy, but a superior balance of hot and vinegar. The really hot condiments tend to overpower other more subtle flavors.

Tabasco is the sauce supplied in USMC MREs for years, on recordTabasco comes from a place in Louisiana.
Cholula might not be of American origin.

I’m not much of hot pepper sauce person. However, I put pepper on pretty much everything.
I do like buffalo wing sauce on my wings.
I use the Tabasco sauce for a Bloody Mary.

For an american hot sauce, I’d go with Franks. Chalula however is my frequent go-to.

Tabasco brand chipotle sauce is da bomb

Tobasco is more of a seasoning than a sauce.
Added for bite and brightness to existing sauces and foods.
Franks hot sauce is my go to hot sauce.

I’m not a big fan of Tabasco products, but their tour of the Tabasco factory and facility at Avery Island, LA was quite interesting.

Tabasco is perfect.
Sure there are hotter sauces. And you should have them in your kitchen. But the author makes a great point when he mentions the acidity of some sauces.
And if your goal is to make your meal uneatable, then yeah. Load it up with any number sauces with 6 and 7 million Scoville Units.
