Maybe recruiting standards have been relaxed a little too much for the DC PD? I mean, who wants to be a cop in DC?
I’m at the point where maybe we really ought to defund the police. Just disband all LE. Let citizens do whatever they want with no judicial consequences. I have a feeling that most of the bad actors would be dispatched quickly and the rest of society would become polite and well behaved.
The decent DC police have my sympathy.

Back during community college days, 2 college officers totaled their cars playing chicken at night in the parking lot. Both went to the hospital with major injuries. The cars were sitting in front of the auto shop when we arrived one Monday morning.
I don’t think it was one of the same ones who shot himself in the foot with a ND about the same time.

I once asked a cop I knew to radar me to confirm my speedometer accuracy. He said to just drive side by side.
By the time we were done we were running 25 over side by side.

Throw the book at them. That’s a residential neighborhood. The Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens are on one side of the street, but the other side is single family homes with, you know, kids and puppies and and old guys with canes and moms with baby strollers. It’s a pretty quiet street with light traffic unless there’s something going on in the Aquatic Gardens, but it ain’t a place anybody should be racing.
WE used to race a bomb loaders in Nam on the Flt line..
Back in the 60s when I was younger we raced our motorcycles around the Lincoln Memorial at 2:00 in the morning. The park police acted as flagmen. Raced a DC motorcycle patrolman one night. Fun times.
