A $45,000-a-year school in Los Angeles is locked in a struggle with parents as administrators push for a more progressive curriculum that excludes classic modern American literature like To Kill a Mockingbird and the Lord of the Flies.
Parents, faculty, staff and alums of Brentwood School began clashing over the curriculum after the school participated in #BlackoutTuesday, a social media campaign to stand against racism, just days after George Floyd died under the knee of a white Minneapolis cop last year.
According to the Los Angeles Magazine, under a #BlackoutTuesday post that featured a black box, some alums criticized the school as being a 'toxic racist cesspool for students of color, but an ivory tower for the wealthy, white elite'.

I wonder if the alums who complained about it being a cesspool really had that kind of a hard life by going to a $45000 a year school. Must have been straight out of “The Blackboard Jungle” or “Up the Down Staircase” or “Stand and Deliver”.
45 grand?!
Fools and their money are soon parted.
Parents don’t need to pay $45K a year or any amount to have their children dumbed down, badly educated and politically indoctrinated by the libbies. They can get all that for free at a public school.
Plenty of better private schools in LA I suspect, if you can afford 45k
45k is for the privilege and social club. Liberals want to be privileged without being privileged.
“...classic modern American literature like To Kill a Mockingbird and the Lord of the Flies.”
William Golding was British.

Clearly that's a racist statement.
Probably 30-40% of that $45,000 goes to ‘scholarships’ for affirmative action kids.
That is a common range for private schools.
Wasn’t To Kill a Mockingbird part of the old anti-racism curriculum?
Lord of the Flies is not American and neither of these books is a classic.
Maybe; it certainly is anti-racist. Back when I was in school, though, everything wasn’t all racism all the time.
It is now.
Yes, it was a fixture in the liberal literary canon prior to the age of wokeness. Incidentally, I read it for the first time about five years ago.
It's also surprising to see The Crucible being purged from the liberal literary canon. It must not be woke enough.
Democrats in Mississippi banned it back in the day.

The Left is okay with witchhunting and guilt by association and false witness. They don’t like the prosecution and blacklisting of Communists.
The people who make such distinctions are ignorant, anyway. Like, the people at Amazon who include "Hatfields & McCoys" and "Australia" (with Nicole Kidman) in their "Western" genre.
So these Black Family Association parents must be very strictly policing their children's phone and internet use, music and friends.
Anti-racism has nothing to do with it the same old utopia socialism propaganda must hide history to rewrite it.
Uh, William Golding was British.
