Please excuse the vanity post.
Please encourage State Senator Kel Seliger (R-31), who represents the Texas Panhandle, to get on board and support HB-1927. The bill passed the house and now it needs to get support from state senators to bring it to the senate floor for a vote.
Also, call Lt. Gov. Patrick and urge him to bring this bill forward.

What is the current law? I have a friend in Houston, last February he went out and got his first 2 handguns, a set of Glocks. He bought them because of the pandemic, and because the salesman said “if you don’t buy them today they won’t be here tomorrow”.
But he told me he drives around with one at all times. I asked him if he needed a permit and he said no. He may be mistaken or I misunderstood.

Suggest that your friend join the GOA.
Best deal going and exceptional lobbying in Texas.
Texas passed Castle doctrine years ago. Your home , vehicle and place of business if you are the owner of the business are your Castle you can carry at all times on your castle and have zero duty to retreat from your castle you can use force at all times while in your castle. Force in Texas when authorised ALWAYS implies deadly force never ever warning shots. Your friend is fine in his car if he wants to carry on or about his person off his private property he currently needs a LTC to do so. 11 year Leo vet here.
Thanks for the info. Now it makes sense. But I guess that means he has to leave the weapon in the car when he get out of the car?
Time for more citizens to contact Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and express your sentiment to him.
Why is one individual acting as a roadblock?
Time to allow the members of Texas Senate take a position.
FYI-
Contact Dan Patrick Lt. Gov.
Contact Kel Seglier (R)- SD-31 ...Panhandle
Thanks for the timely response and concise explanation.
Texas law treats your vehicle as an extension of your home with one exception - you can’t have the gun in plain view in your car, but as long as you have it stashed in your console or glovebox, it’s perfectly legal.
