Chick-fil-A wants you to spend $2 not to go to Chick-fil-A

Why would you even go to the drive-thru when the drive-thru can come to you?

Chick-fil-A.

Its customer service humans are said to be exemplars of fine behavior. Yet here is the chain announcing that it's experimenting with robotic delivery. Specifically, the Kiwibot 4.0.

The chain told Restaurant Business that Santa Monica -- already a paradise of indolence -- is now being blessed with Chick-fil-A Kiwibot robots that bring your chicken sandwich to you.

Because why would you want to stand in line for, say, 10 minutes at a Chick-fil-A when a robot can bring you your order in, oh, thirty minutes?

And, in Chick-fil-A's case, the delivery costs -- on average -- a mere $1.99. Yes, pay two bucks not to go to your favorite home of customer service.

How much ransom are they going to pay for their bots?

This thing will night make it through the night shift without close air support and a nearby sniper team.

Toss a blanket over it and take it home for free food and a 'finders fee'.

Then comes the knock on the door from the cops who have tracked it by its GPS signal.

No soup for you!

Honestly, this drine isn't a terrible idea. It's not just the waiting in line that is the problem - although that wait can be wellover ten minutes in a drive-through - nut rather also the travel time it takes to get to and return from the restaurant from wherever you are in the first place.

They’ll keep the bots restricted to the “nice” neighborhoods, probably serving the Silicon Valley types who would gladly geek over the chance to spend an extra $2 and wait an additional 20 minutes just to have their food delivered by a robot.

Certainly ain’t gonna make it in Compton, though...

You won’t see me in line or paying for CF to deliver.

Horrid nasty rotten food. Tried it once during the FR CF hoopla a few years ago. Never again. It was inedible to me and the dog.

Someone must’ve converted to the LRon Hoover Church of Appliantology for Chik-fil-A to make this switch.

DoorDash, Waitr, GrubHub, UberEats, etc. all charge you to not go to the restaurant. That’s the point. What is so special about Chick-Fil-A?

If it were not for the source... I would be convinced that this is a joke. We had loads of those government subsidized rental scooters and electric bicycles around here to “reduce our carbon footprint”. They basically lost so many of them and were sued by so many people who fell off of them that even with the government subsidies they could not stay in business.

Yes, all you just now said right there plus that Cathey dude who owns it is bat hsit psychotic.

I don’t say this about many people, but the “Man of faith” facade came crashing down back about the time that BLM got started and then the next thing we heard out of him was some blubbering in his deep south accent about white people washing black people’s feet, like it was some kind of solution.

Nuttier than Rocky the flying squirrel hsit.

The police around here don't bother to show up when you tell them that someone just stole your car... GPS or not. My guess is that bums hijacking these in Santa Monica will not get any more attention than car thieves here.

—”Then comes the knock on the door from the cops who have tracked it by its GPS signal.”

GPS blocking is an everyday event in Chiraq.

GPS devices are sometimes used by courts to monitor suspects, but they are not foolproof. ... “Offenders have learned that wrapping the GPS device in aluminum foil can make the GPS tracking points untraceable and disappear.”

Since their collapse on conservative principles I have not followed their business, or bought their products.

I don’t anticipate being one of their customers again.

Their fall was so sudden even I was shocked. But I guess they are making even more money now. The wages of sin are going up.

That occasion was a gaffe, but nothing more. They had employees who could choose a charity for a gift, and they gave to that charity as they said they would.

They just hoped the charities picked were wholesome.
