Yeah, they were red when I was a kid. Used to have red dye all over my fingers. Better without the dye.

Red is a danger color. California pistachios were never that color. Buy American

I had a small project for the Big Kahuna and we were working in his office, on his desk was a large bowl of the most beautiful plump pistachio I had ever seen.

He left town; ever try to eat just a few of them?
Before noon, the four of us made a noticeable dent in the pistachio supply.

At lunch one of the guys picked up some replacements, they were about half the size of the originals.

We ate them too! We were hooked.

The next day everyone brought in more replacements.

We left a bowl mostly full of ‘old maids’.

We never heard a word about it?
Best guess, his secretary refreshed his supply?

Damn! What is it about those damn nuts that makes normal men turn into gluttons with no shame or sense of propriety???

I can’t count the number of times I have poured out a small bowl, with the firm and confident intention of being an responsible adult, then...just a few more...just a half bowl this time...

Next thing I know, I have laid waste to an entire bag!

Then, I know my wife will see the shameful spectacle of a pile of pistachio nut carcasses in the trash, and my gluttonous excesses will be revealed to everyone...especially her!

Fudge and pistachio lovers, this is easy to make
and utterly delicious. Can add bit green coloring.

PISTACHIO WHITE CHOCOLATE FUDGE

PREP Foil/Line 8" sq pan, extend foil handles; spray.

METHOD Elec/mixer 8 oz cr/cheese smooth. Rain in 3 c conf on low.
Add lb melted white/choc baking bar, 1/2 tea vanilla, 1/4 tea almond
extract; mix well. Stir in 1/2 c chp pistachios.

Spread evenly in pan. Garnish w/ chp pistachios;
fridge firm an hour; lift out w/ foil. Cut 25-1 1/2" squares.

Plus, we lost all of our colored toilet tissue in the late 80’s as well! Now, nothing but government approved flat white for all.

I don't know about government approved or dictated colors for toilet paper. But, I have only purchased white toilet paper as I developed allergies to the dyes. I have not even realized that toilet paper is all white.

Maybe I just dreamed this up, but for some reason I thought for a brief period many moons ago that I saw some pistachios were being colored white??
