Where Does Your State Rank? Survey Shows Which States Americans Think Are the Best and Worst
PJ Media ^ | 04/15/2021 | Rick Moran

States are “ranked” in many ways — best business climate, worst quality of life, most fun, etc. But most of those judgments are made by professionals — economists, pollsters, even journalists.

A unique YouGov survey took an entirely different approach.

We asked people to choose the better of two states in a series of head-to-head matchups. States are rated based on their “win percentage”, that is: how often that state won the head-to-head matchup when it was one of the two states shown.

All 50 states were shown, in addition to Washington, D.C., but territories were not included.

The rankings are from best to worst. Hawaii won the most head-to-head match-ups at 69 percent. Coming in dead last — by a significant margin — was the soon-to-be great state of New Columbia, formerly known as “Washington, D.C.,” which won only 35 percent of the match-ups.

Hawaii, which is well-known for its beautiful beaches and warm weather, took the top spot by winning 69% of its matchups. With its scenic mountains, hiking paths, and recreational marijuana industry, Colorado took second place with 65% of matches won.

The third-ranking state was Virginia (64%), a destination for American history and ocean coastlines. Nevada, the home of Las Vegas, landed in the fourth-favorite spot (61%), with North Carolina only marginally behind it (61%).

Following the top five, Florida snagged the sixth spot with a 61% win-rate. Another retirement destination, Arizona, won 60% of its matchups to take seventh. New York — the destination for Broadway, quality food, and the city’s culture — landed in eighth place (59%). Two other destinations for warm weather and ocean coastlines landed in ninth and tenth place, respectively: Georgia (58%) and Texas (58%).

They don’t call it the “Sun Belt” for nothing.

I’ve got an idea for a survey; the best ways to divorce ourselves from the Marxist scum occupying our country. 🖕🏻

“States are “ranked” in many ways...”

There are a lot of “rank” states on that list...they are known as democrat states.

What a suprise my two favorite states, Alabama and Mississipi are at the bottom of the list. Hopefully this poll by ths British international Internet-based market research and data analytics firm, YouGov will keep at least a few liberal idiots from moving there and wrecking them. I don’t know though... Idaho is low on the list as well and liberals are already flocking there. The state where we are currently at, Washington is a dead man walking at this point. It is surprising Florida did so well in this retarded survey.

The free market way of ranking states is looking at housing prices. How much people are willing to pay to live there.

That roughly matches this. People are willing to pay $400K more than average to buy a home in Hawaii, the highest in the nation.

RE: People are willing to pay $400K more than average to buy a home in Hawaii, the highest in the nation.

So, why were people willing to pay millions to live in small apartments in San Francisco and Manhattan?

The locked down fascist Chinese colony of Hawaii wins. What a joke.

Seems like an odd methodology to compare state rankings. There are a lot of variables to consider. Some states have many large population centers and others have few or none. Sure, Hawaii might be a beautiful state, but very expensive to live there and the employment possibilities are limited. If you are fortunate to be able to choose a state to live in, there will usually be some family and cultural factors that play into it.

I want the Southern states to stay at the bottom of every ranking. Keep the leftist scum from over running us since the truth is far different than the rankings. I love the South. We have too many home grown lefty morons. We don’t need any transplants.

Since HGTV began airing Home Town, my little town has boomed. Folks are flocking here pushing home values to unrealistic levels. When northern tourists visit, they are shocked, SHOCKED, than folks here are educated, hospitable, and tolerant. We’re a majority black town with mostly black city officials and get along just fine thank you. Please keep this quiet.

Umm, so the ranking was on issues like: “pretty”?
I’m confused. Issues like political crappola were ignored? Corruption, traffic, cost of living, etc. The article says little, or I missed it.

Washington is at most a city, it should be returned Maryland just like the original areas of the district that were from Virginia were returned to Virginia. That Marilyn does not want it back is purely racist.

Joke indeed.

Most New Yorkers I know -and I am from there- hate New York, living there because they are stuck there. They pay enormous amounts of money for everything. The taxes are horrific and they watch people take. There is no building going on there. They don’t like their politicians. Half the people in New York love Trump. They are stuck

No way is this list valid

People are flooding into Texas and it’s #10 Best place to raise kids. Good weather. Affordable living. Retirement planning. Retirement

Nope.

Sadly, my home state, the beautiful New Mexico, which used to be a great place to live, in the real world now ranks at the very bottom of a real world chart.

Above NM is then Mississippi and Arkan-saw. In truth, some parts of Arkansas rank well above most states. The NW corner is doing well with all that Walmart Money flowing through the area.

I lived in Hawaii (Oahu) for over two years. It’s beautiful with excellent climate, but it is over crowded, over priced, filled with Asian racists, and over run with rude, entitled tourists.

There are no certainties in life, only what we make of it collectively. The glory that was Rome was destroyed when they slowly allowed the Goths and Visigoths to migrate to their cities.

He who does not learn from history is condemned to repeat it.
