Gavin Newsom's decision-making is under heightened scrutiny as the California governor faces a recall election later this year. And while this may be unwelcome focus as the Democratic lawmaker wrangles with COVID-19 in his state, down the line the vote could prove a political boost.

"The impact of the recall on Newsom's vulnerability down the line depends on whether it does end up being close or not," Eric Schickler, professor of political science and co-director of the Institute of Governmental Studies at the University of California, Berkeley, told Newsweek.

This is assuming that the GOP is recalling Newsome. It appears to me that the people of California are the ones doing the recall.

I don’t think Newsom will lose. At least not in this type of election fraud environment. California is one of the worst.

We know they will pull fake ballots to stop the recall. Zero vote integrity in my State. Newsome is a clown who continues to damage this State.

Another unbiased institution in a decidedly conservative city.

To me it’s the arrogant incompetence. People need only to open their eyes. $500 vehicle registration(8 cyl. trucks) is what did it for the last one-that and blackouts. Throw in a celebrity candidate and it shows Calif. did not hit rock bottom. We may not be there this time either but we’re sure closer.

Even if he is recalled, who replaces him is unlikely to be any better.

Yes, but even if the ratbastid stays in office, the recall forced him to open up — a bit.
Without it, Ca would be totally closed down until every non-commie business owner was on the state dole forever.
Yes, I admit I’m getting a bit personal in calling the Guv’na a naughty name. But, he is a politico! Surely it is OK for that. I’ve lived here under his regime and that of Moonbeam before him. Surely, it is OK. If not, I apologize. However, my thoughts on these two &*%^^$^ are even worse.

The GOP has a history of being one of the best at learning how to mange the “agony of defeat” to come back and do it over and over again.

I figure Newsom will try to return California to normal, and then give all kinds of giveaways to the state residents to try to save his butt.

A bunch of commie hacks talking to a bunch of commie hacks. Newsome is hated. They can’t disguise that even if they lie and cheat.

This could backfire in two ways...

1 Newsom doesn’t get recalled, in which case he feels vindicated and double down on his idiotic policies, or

2. Some Rat worse than him ends up replacing him

The chances of a republican winning the recall election are slim and none.

This garbage by Eric Schickler, Professor of Propaganda at Berkeley, spread through Newsweek and MSN, is nothing but blatant propaganda. They're determined to spread the lie that it's the Republicans recalling Gruesome Newsom when it's the Democrats who are doing it. The Republicans and Independents are along for the ride.

Regarding state leaders who allegedly weaponize state power to quarantine for political purposes, patriots need to do the following.

Patriots need to establish checks and balances against abuse of such powers by working with their state lawmakers to amend state constitutions as follows.

Each state should ultimately take the advice of Justice Brandeis who had volunteered his "laboratories of democracy" metaphor to emphasize the unique 10th Amendment powers of the states and the people to experiment with social policy, ultimately depending on what legal majority citizen voters of each state want.

"It is one of the happy incidents of the federal system that a single courageous State may, if its citizens choose [emphasis added], serve as a laboratory; and try novel social and economic experiments without risk to the rest of the country.” —Justice Brandeis, Laboratories of democracy.

In fact, Newsom should have at least waited for results of Texas mask policy before condemning it.

Patriots also need to primary (2022) candidates for federal lawmaker who don’t agree to the following.

When the federal government accuses someone of violating one of its laws, judges and law enforcement officials should be required to inform the accused of the constitutional clause(s) that arguably justifies the law for further scrutiny of the constitutionality of that law, especially where our 2nd Amendment safety net is concerned.

Republicans have ZERO influence in CA. I had to exit to Idaho in 2000 when it was clear that my vote was forever overshadowed by the leftists. Some of that filth is leaking into Idaho now.

If the Republicans succeed in giving CA a chance to boot Newsom, they have done their job. I have ZERO faith that the CA voters will do any better booting and/or replacing Newsom. CA has the government they deserve by virtue of a brain dead electorate.

If you're a conservative still living in CA, you should find a better place where your principles are respected. That's never going to happen again in CA.
