Filipinos are googling unapproved COVID-19 treatments like Ivermectin instead of vaccines

FILIPINOS are googling unapproved coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) treatments instead of vaccine registrations as the recent surge has driven netizens to look for alternative ways to cope with the virus, according to a study by meta-search website iPrice Group.

“This could be problematic for the country’s efforts to eradicate the virus, as studies show that an estimate of 50-80% of the population needs to be inoculated to achieve herd immunity,” iPrice said in a statement.

Ivermectin, an unapproved drug for COVID-19, reached a Google search volume of 224,110 in March 2021, an increase of 687% compared to the previous month. Comparing Google search results between March 2021 and November 2020, when awareness of the drug was still low, yields an even higher surge of interest: 2,705%. “From a scientific standpoint, the recommendatory bodies say there is not yet enough evidence for ivermectin as a treatment or prevention measure for COVID-19,” said Dr. Anna Lisa T. Ong-Lim, a professor of the University of the Philippines and the division chief of the Philippine General Hospital’s infectious and tropical diseases in pediatrics. Ivermectin, she added in a recent webinar, can be a stand-in for anything, like orange juice.

“We have fear and frustration, so we put our faith into something that people say works,” she said. “We need to address this fear and frustration na mahawaan [of being infected].”

Wearing a mask, physical distancing, and hand washing are still the best forms of prevention, she added.

At another virtual event, Dr. Benjamin G. Co, an infectious disease medical practitioner, clinical pharmacologist, and former director of the Center for Drug Regulation and Research, said it was necessary to look at the safety data.

“I’m not for or against ivermectin. I’d like to compare all the data that is out there.

I’ve read from scientists IVmec has somewhere between a 35% to 85% success rate in reducing hospitalization. Good enough for me. I have some - as well as vitamin D and zinc. I know it is not a cure. But like having it around as tool for cv-19 or any potential variants. Being in my forties the vax is irrational for my age group.

I’m on it.

Done a ton of research on it and feel pretty confident that it helps (along with D, C and Quercetin.) and I have a friend on HCQ that will give me some if I ever develop symptoms.

On a waiting list for the vaccine but not too much in a hurry to get it.

We’re getting lied to so much. We just have to go with our gut who is lying the least.

They’re letting the cat out of the bag as to why they never bothered with follow-up testing after promising initial results with Ivermectin (instead they kept saying that ‘more study is needed, and left it at that). Lots of people were forced to suffer and die, unnecessarily, because of that policy - a policy that would make Cuomo proud.

...and what evidence do they have that masks, social distancing, or hand washing even works? Certainly not in Michigan.

There was a day not too long ago when the definition of “herd immunity” did not include vaccines.

It might be desperation as much as smarts, given that for a vaccine, the Filipinos are looking at the Chinese vaccine, IIRC.

If they feel this strongly about the use of Ivermectin for the Fauci Flu, make it a LIFE PRISON SENTENCE for ANY Government Official or Employee to use it then

And why not.

If there are treatments that can help prevent an infection, obviating a need for a vaccination, then why shouldn’t people seek them out. Just because it upsets officials attempts to vaccinate everyone? Which is more important, their own health or following “official” advice?
