Hmmm.....
There was another thread today that said people with the flu shot are more likely to catch Covid.
So I can reduce my odds of hospitalization by 42% (1/2.4) just by getting the flu shot. Good to know.
When it comes to Covid, there is a whole lot of:
may
might
should
could
etc
“A new study suggests....”
How may thousands of times have we read this in regards to Covid?
The fact is the CDC, Fauci, and all the other experts are pulling data out of the *** on a daily basis.
They really don’t know what the hell is going on.
Study “suggests”
So what?
It’s not a fact.
Vitamin D. Zinc, etc. will also shield you. Not may. WILL.
My wife have been driving all over the country and at age 67 we don’t wear masks and don’t even think about getting the virus. We’re not obese and we eat well - and are aware of what keeps viruses at bay.
A different study conducted for the U.S. military also looked at folks who had tested Covid19 positive and hospitalized Covid19 patients, and it found the opposite results - 36% greater likelihood of being hospitalized if Covid19 infected AND had a previous flu vaccination.
Researchers involved in both these studies need to work together on a larger and more rigorous study and try to resolve their different results.
Really? I guess my husband would have died for sure. He had a flu shot and got a severe case of covid and almost died. He has no other comorbidities.
I got a flu shot, no other comorbidities and got quite a mild case of covid.
Some people get it bad and some don’t. I’m still waiting for a valid reason why.
Well the Flu shot does have a longer history compare to the Covid shot.
I’ve had the flu shot 2 years in a row and first time ever not been sick
Been in the hospital once or twice each year because I feel so awful with lungs on fire, can’t breathe, aches and pains.
Then the effects have always lingered for months.
Thank God for making me finally realize I needed to end my yearly suffering....
Maybe a flu shot keeps you from getting the flu which is apparently being misdiagnosed as covid.
The flu shots are only a crap shoot on the current year’s variant of the flu but somehow it helps with covid which doesn’t work much for covid.
“They” sure are wanting to jab everyone with whatever they can.
My doctor finally talked me into getting the flu shot last fall. I told him it wouldn’t affect Covid19, but he said it would ramp up my immune system. He got me to take it by telling me if I caught Covid19 and gave it to my husband,(who’s very high risk) that it could kill him. I accused him of dirty pool, but I took the shot. We will NOT be getting the Covid19 vaccines!
Not even in the same family of viruses...
Correlation is not causation...if the influenza vaccine had any effect it would just be that it put the immune system on alert, if that is even a thing with the immune system.
But the most likely reason I think is probably what is relayed in this part of the article:
Chi also noted that, "on average, those who get flu shots tend to be people who are more cautious and care about their own health. These are the same people who are more likely to [adopt] a higher level of safety-hygiene practices during the pandemic," which could mean that their future COVID-19 exposure might be to a "lower density of virus."
