Dr. Robert Lesslie and his wife Barbara, along with their two grandchildren, were among five people killed in a shooting in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
A former NFL player shot and killed a doctor, his wife and two grandchildren and one other person before turning the gun on himself in a horrifying scene at a South Carolina home, according to the Associated Press.
Phillip Adams, who had stints with the Seahawks, 49ers, Raiders and Jets, opened fire at the home in Rock Hill late Wednesday afternoon, sources told the AP.
Killed in the shooting was Dr. Robert Lesslie, 70, his wife Barbara Lesslie, 69, two of their grandchildren, 9-year-old Adah Lesslie and 5-year-old Noah Lesslie, according to the York County Sheriff’s Office.
Adams died by suicide, the AP reported.
A fifth victim, James Lewis, 38, who was working at the home at the time, was also fatally shot. A sixth person, who was not immediately identified, was hospitalized with a serious gunshot wound, authorities said.
Investigators said they have identified a suspect in the mass shooting and detained him after finding him in a nearby home.

The Dr. was an ER doctor, but I have seen in articles that Dr. Lesslie was Adams’s doctor at some point in the past. Reports are that Adams’s parents lived next door to the doctor.
Thought did cross my mind. Weird if random. Also, another individual in the hospital with a serious GSW. BTW. Can someone tell me which GSWs aren’t ‘serious’?
Adams killed himself with a .45. I presume that it was the same gun used to murder the Lesslie family and handyman. As we all know, .45’s tend to be a little more “serious.”
