Yahoo Sports Nearly half of American sports fans changed viewing habits because of social justice Jay Busbee Jay Busbee Mon, March 29, 2021, 3:26 PM·3 min read In the wake of last summer’s social justice protests, which consumed sports for much of the second half of 2020, nearly half of all Americans changed their sports viewing habits, according to a new YouGov / Yahoo News poll. As athletes and leagues embraced a new, progressive strategy aimed at amplifying messages of social justice and political advocacy, some Americans began watching more sports, but about three times as many watched less.
Of those who watch sports on TV, about 11 percent said they now watch more as a result of political and social messaging. However, 34.5 percent, more than one-third, said they are watching less. The vast majority, roughly 56.3 percent, said they watch about the same amount regardless of political or social messaging.

Dig into the stimulus and infrastructure bill. There mght be bailouts for media and sports leagues.
Wouldn’t surprise me one bit.
Exactly. Sports used to bringvus together. Now they drive us apart. Turns out that without the aspect of bringing people together the whole thing starts to seem pointless.
Most quit due to taking a knee.
Tom Brady caused many Bostonians for years to puff their chests out with pride that they, yes THEY, are Super Bowl champions! Now Tom Brady has moved to Florida and it is Floridians now puffing out their chests because THEY are Super Bowl champions!
When you think about it, it's all a bunch of juvenile nonsense.
Only thing I watch is the NY Rangers, Triple Crown and the last day of the golf majors.
A lot of cucks can’t stop watching the NFL.
Or a bi-racial couple.
Not saying there’s anything wrong with that - but the TV advertisers have gone well out of their way to show ads with a bi-racial couple.
So they piss off 3 times as many customers as they please.
Brilliant strategy guys.
As Jerry Seinfeld pointed out, it's rooting for the clothes, not the players in them since the players move from team to team.
What are sports and why should I care?
I don’t watch much sports at all anymore. I got tired of a bunch of millionaires whining about poor people. How many of their millions have they given people??? None!!! Loud mouth punks. I don’t give even college football my money or time any more. I was for 98% of my life, a solid Alabama fan. I dearly loved old Coach Bear Bryant. I was still in grade school when he came to Bama I think. Anyway, I loved him, but really, I cannot stand Saban. Great coach, yes. Cannot take that away from him. But a ass hole in my humble opinion. I just don’t like the guy. So, I don’t follow college football anymore.
