Yahoo Sports Nearly half of American sports fans changed viewing habits because of social justice Jay Busbee Jay Busbee Mon, March 29, 2021, 3:26 PM·3 min read In the wake of last summer’s social justice protests, which consumed sports for much of the second half of 2020, nearly half of all Americans changed their sports viewing habits, according to a new YouGov / Yahoo News poll. As athletes and leagues embraced a new, progressive strategy aimed at amplifying messages of social justice and political advocacy, some Americans began watching more sports, but about three times as many watched less.

Of those who watch sports on TV, about 11 percent said they now watch more as a result of political and social messaging. However, 34.5 percent, more than one-third, said they are watching less. The vast majority, roughly 56.3 percent, said they watch about the same amount regardless of political or social messaging.

56.3% is NOT a “vast majority”.

I had to show a picture ID at an office supply store to pick up a ream of paper worth $36 that I had ordered online for a local pickup.

And heaven forbid if the name doesn’t match exactly. One purchase for a box of pencils had my name listed as (First Initial) (Full Last Name) on their screen and she had to go find the manager to OK it because obviously that didn’t match 100% what the license said!

I’m afraid pro sports is more concerned about the Chinese market.

That's where their growth is. America is a mature market and kids could care less so apparently they are even willing to lose 50% for the China potential growth.

I don’t believe 11% of the people increased watching because of woke politics.

Me too and I have multiple family members in the business. MLB lost approximately $3B in 2020, then they piss off the fans with political statements when they were going to struggle to get fans coming back anyway. The stupid is astounding. There will be teams filing BK within the next few years it has to happen.

Libs don’t watch baseball.

Wait till China starts fielding their own teams for their favorite sports.

I’m just surprised that they’re not all broke already. Someone’s got to be bleeding money - maybe it’s the teeheevee networks.

Before woketards came on the scene it was team loyalty, city/state/school rivalry, and a good excuse to gather and party. Suddenly people became aware they were watching grown men who play a kid’s game acting like whining children. Nobody has time for that.

Rather than burning down CNN, the NYT and the AP hq, we should be storming the gates of the advertising agencies.

MLB is going to have a BIG problem because the patchwork state regulations about COVID-19 could make it too expensive to move the game to places like Denver's Coors Field or Seattle's T-Mobile Field.

I used to watch the NFL...when I thought those millionaires supported the country which made them fabulously wealthy.

Now my Sundays (and Monday nights) are FREE!!!

I love baseball - hate their politics and think they are dumb but I think that about a lot of peoples political stances these days. If I never saw a person who did something I disagree with I would not see too many people. I watch baseball when the ump says play ball until the final out. Maybe just too tired to fight every dumb ass that are too stupid to know what they are talking about.

What cracks me up is the over pandering with the bi-racial push. If it’s black gal with a white guy she’s driving or in charge in some way.

We’d say it was if Trump carried the vote by that much.

B.S.

No one watches more sports because at the beginning of the game a bunch of useful idiots kneel in disrespect to the flag.

Well, maybe women's soccer... lol, but not men's sports, no way.
