@PeterSchiff
When our republic was formed voting was not a right. There is no "right to vote" in the Bill of Rights. Voting was a privilege restricted by age, poll taxes, literacy tests, property ownership, etc. The goal was an informed and responsible electorate, not maximum participation.
@PeterSchiff
The goal of an election is good government. It's better to have a good government elected by a minority, then a bad one elected by a majority. I'd rather not qualify to vote personally and have others elect a good government, then participate in the process of electing a bad one.

I’m fine with one man or one woman and one for each ; even if they are stupid liberals
What I and almost everybody is not fine with is
cheating
lying
fraud
printing ballots
throwing away ballots
computer-generated nonsense
such that one side always wins. No matter what the vote is
In democrat run states right now that’s exactly what we have

Nothing wrong with wanting an informed electorate. The problem is any test for it is going to be highly controversial and condemned as RACIST, etc.
I do believe something like this will happen in future, Maybe in 20-30 years as the general public begins to see the consequences of vote buying i.e a broke government!

I remember this bit of a non-fiction Robert Heinlein book (don't recall the title.) Heinlein postulated a mathematical equation on the voting booth door that had to be solved to let a citizen in.
In fictional "Starship Troopers" one had to be a veteran of "Federal Service" to vote or run for office. Heinlein clearly felt that the "woolly-headed" should not be voting, but as an engineer he was probably a bit over-logical. That's great for engineers, it helps them do their work.
I totally agree with his premise and the founding fathers that some sort of education should be necessary to vote and run for office. A test on the Constitution, American History, Basic Math (nod to RAH) Basic English and something about ethos.
Problem: How do you keep Democrats from subverting and re-writing all that into evil? They are probably already creating a system that forbids liberty-lovers from voting.

Right. Ratified in 1870. Was not in original document. NO right real or imagined until 1870

Laws, tests and so forth are needed, but they must be share holders to cast a vote; that is, they own property.

That would be a great way to vote. The only people eligible would have to be at least 30, with the power of your vote depending on how much you paid in taxes. And be property owners.

Excellent point about the 10th Amendment. The Founding Fathers let the states decide who can vote.
Peter Schiff may technically be correct that “right to vote” doesn’t appear in the Bill of Rights.
But the Constitution doesn’t say that anyone should be denied voting rights, either.

I agree with Mr. Schiff.
The politically correct, “sacred cow” right to vote helps to keep desperate Democrats in power, an “equality”-associated power that got started in Genesis 3:5 imo.
Noting that corrupt Congress hasn’t stopped interference with 12th Amendment electoral vote process from likewise corrupt political parties for the last 100+ years, more recently evidenced by alleged Democratic vote-counting fraud in 2020, our politically correct “right” to vote has always been compromised for our generation imo.
Insights welcome.
To: RandFan
Voting was never intended to be a right it was supposed to be a responsibility.
