All the media screaming about 'bizarre,' which they leveled at Gaetz, now leaves them with egg all over their faces.
Seems the media's rush to judgment on the matter of Rep. Matt Gaetz, a popular conservative Florida Republican, who was smeared in the New York Times as someone in a relationship with a 17-year-old girl, might just leave them with egg all over their faces.
Again.
There's no doubt about it, the press came down hard on Gaetz, whose defense of himself on the Tucker Carlson show, following the Times hit piece, included describing an extortion plot, was broadly ridiculed as "improbable," "QAnon" and "bizarre," "bizarre," and "bizarre." Even some on the right called it "bizarre."
Sure, if he's making it up. Turns out he wasn't.

“I can confirm that your client is working with my office as well as the FBI at the government’s request in order to determine if a federal crime has been committed. This has been discussed with, and approved by, the FBI as well as the leadership of my office and components of Main Justice.”
The response followed a Gaetz family lawyer sending the following in a March 25th email:
“My client, Don Gaetz, was approached by two individuals to make a sizable payment in what I would call a scheme to defraud. The FBI is not asking Don to voluntarily and proactively assist in their investigation, which Don is willing to do. Please confirm that your Office and the FBI would like Don’s assistance in this matter and that he will be working at the Government’s request.”
The emails follow The New York Times publishing an article – “Matt Gaetz Is Said to Face Justice Dept. Inquiry Over Sex With an Underage Girl” – that accused the congressman of being in a sexual relationship with an underage girl and appear to confirm the story outlined by Rep. Gaetz’s on Tucker Carlson Tonight.
WAKE UP!!! This is likely the Russia, Russia, Russia DOJ and deep state going after another outspoken conservative. Working with the FBI is working with the people likely behind this whole thing!!!
Oh noes, usconservative is going to be disappointed.
Have to see how it plays out, but my current position is that this guy is being completely railroaded. It’s like the Steele dossier with Trump. Is there anything there at all? Is it completely false? For the Left, that’s not important. They can make allegations, assume the guilt, and really push forward to achieve their goals.
I’m going to need rock solid proof before I begin to entertain the notion that Gaetz did anything wrong.
Their extortion racket, to me, is a far more interesting topic.
We shall see. We'll just have to let this one play out.
Just because Matt Gaetz went to the FBI claiming extortion, and the FBI is looking into it, doesn't mean that Matt Gaetz didn't do something "extortable."
What I find interesting is that the media haven’t produced the 17YO (as of yet), like I know they would try to do to expose a Republican. They don’t care who they ruin.
And the Gaetz family probably recorded all their interactions with the agency in case the FBI was about to stab them in the back.

Extortion from the corrupt FBI, slander from Dem congressmen, and libel from the gaslight media. It would be nice to see criminal chrges against the FBI and lawsuits against the others.

You are most definitely extortable by no fault of your own. For you to make your claim against Matt on this basis is absolutely bizarre.
This all sounds like something Hillary dreamed up.
I see this as similar to the “anonymous whistleblower” that Trump had to deal with.
No name, no picture, no proof of existence, but hey it’s all about the seriousness of the charges, eh?
The Gaetz family has actual recordings of the extortion attempt. The FBI is actually reviewing these recordings. There is no doubt about that side of it. A real investigation into the real extortion should be of interest to people.
Some allegation that some 17-year-old may or may not exist? I have no interest in fairy tales.
So when is the Enemedia going after Swallowwell? Never.
It’s not just democrats that want him out. You have to remember he went after deep-state warhawk RINO congresswoman Liz Cheney too. There are a lot of people that have a target on his back.
Standing up for what is right has a heavy price. All we have to do is see what they did to Trump.
I don’t know the full story at this point but he gets the benefit of the doubt until it is proven otherwise.
There's a lot of things people won't like in this DailyMail story - like comments from disgraced FBI Director McCabe - but if the central elements of what is being alleged in the story are true, Gaetz is screwed. This would also go some way towards explaining the eerie silence coming from most GOP House members.
The fact that the FBI has already indicted Greenburg over the same 17-year old, is a huge red-flag. It sounds like she's a cooperating witness. This all reinforces my belief that irrespective of party and ideology, you should never give any politician the benefit of the doubt when it comes to salacious sex stories. More often than not, they turn out to be largely true.

Somewhere, deep in all of this you will find Liz Cheney’s fingerprints, bet on it.
