Two-thirds of disease experts believe coronavirus variants will render vaccines ineffective within one year, a new survey finds.
Conducted by the People's Vaccine Alliance, about 66 percent of epidemiologists, virologists and infectious disease specialists say they think that within 12 months, the virus will mutate to such a degree that first-generation vaccines will be useless at preventing infection.
Of that group, nearly one-fifth believe it would occur within six months and one-third said within nine months. Fewer than one in eight doctors said they believed that mutations would never make the vaccines currently available ineffective.

We in the US passed the classical herd immunity threshold several weeks ago when the new infection curve bent downwards with zero charges in the social mobility numbers. Herd immunity is defined by R0 < 1 where the results kill more than 2/3 of the herd. In large groups, most mammal populations recover from that sort of loss in less than 2 generations because of decrease in predation. We are now talking about deaths on the order of 3 in 2500 in the 3pm at dennys crowd, the post breeders. Amongst breeders, R0 is and always has been a value approaching the fear of electrical storms.
like this:
Yeah, and every year after. Just like the common cold, no cure.
Here’s the kicker: I bet at some point in the future we hear about a very disturbing feature of the mutating Covid, and that’s that if you’ve had it, and gotten sick over it, but recovered, then the next time you get it, like in a year or two, some mutated strain or even the same strain, you are much more likely to die.
And of course it’s worse the older you are, and if you have comorbidities.
The resulting effect? In 5 years, I think the life expectancy here in the US for males will be in the early 60’s, women mid 60’s.
Just a guess.
Which one of the ones you mentioned, 2aprotectstherest, are the BCG from Canada?
18 months from Dec 2019 /Jan2020 is June/July 2020; we have 3 months to go.
And instances of the virus are dropping.
Ha!
It’ll be a miracle for those who survive the next 10 years the way this world is going.
I’m basing it from March 2020 - so I’m figuring Labor Day-ish
Let’s see who gets more infections and/or re-infections from the new variants, those who have had a vaccine or those who sustained and with their own antibodies fought off a Covid-19 infection.
global disease experts have been wrong about virtually every other covid prediction that they have made, so we should be safe.
Well, I AM an epidemiologist AND an Infectious Diseases doctor - and nobody asked me.
The correct answer is: Nobody knows, but preliminary data from UK on B.1.1.7 suggests that vaccine immunity is strong.

The BCG group was only a little better (about 25%) than the unvaccinated group in the Cedars Sinai study that supported this claim. The same study found that study participants with a history of BCG vaccination had significantly more comorbidities such as hypertension, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and COPD than did those without a history of BCG vaccination. Is that an acceptable trade? Also, adult BCG vaccination is pretty rare, so these studies are based on childhood vaccinations. Adults? Who knows? So pick your poison. It will be at least a year before valid studies are complete. Then folks will freak out about all the horrible side effects. Or COVID will be fully controlled and we will move on to something else to build up as a monster.
That’s right because the media fear campaign is what is fueling the push and demand for the so-called vaccine.
Just say no to being a guinea pig for big pharma.
And that 18 months will just happen to coincide with the vaccine push and the disappearance of COVID will be credited to the vaccines when they had nothing to do with it,
LOL!!!
Yes, join the class action lawsuit that pays the lawyers millions and the injured their $2.17 each when the rest of the money is divvied up.
If “study participants with a history of BCG vaccination had significantly more comorbidities such as hypertension, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and COPD than did those without a history of BCG vaccination.” then how could the “studies are based on childhood vaccinations.”?
Either the group studied were older folks with hypertension, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, or COPD, or kids with heart issues or diabetes.
And baby formula is better than nursing because.....
Better living through chemistry.
