I know someone who had to refile their unemployment claim yesterday (first filed a year ago).
The new claim was based upon income from the prior year.
Think very carefully upon the numbers on which the claim is based ('benefits' received do not count).
Millions of Americans from all walks of life and political parties will soon be refiling their claims, only to discover a glaring omission from the $1.9 Trillion 'relief' bill.
Net result: The only 'relief' is the $300/week provided under the 'American Relief' bill, a fraction of the prior amount.
They touted the benefits as being 'nontaxable to filers reporting under $150k', but ignored BOTH some states' taxation (such as my state of Oregon, which taxes the $300/week) AND the fact that refiling to take advantage of the tax break recalculates benefits on actual 'income'...which for most people will be ZERO.
I fully expect the soon-to-be-rising crescendo of pissed off democrats not getting their payola to be used as the cudgel to push through yet another 'relief' bill to funnel even more money into the pockets of masking/lockdown/'vaccine' cheerleaders' pockets.
Fair warning for FReepers who are the unfortunate victims of this fake 'virus crisis' and dependent upon soon-disappearing benefits.
Are you saying there is not enough free money?
I think it means we've reached the end of padding our Preps with Red Chinese money....
The only 'relief' is the $300/week provided under the 'American Relief' bill, a fraction of the prior amount.
Aw, that's sad, people who didn't have jobs in the first place, unable to collect enough 'unemployment' that they refuse to 'return' to 'working'...
Interesting post—I actually feel sorry for the poor folks working at the unemployment offices—they are gonna be dealing with some _really_ angry folks....
You have to go through your state representative and/or state senator, because the unemployment people don't answer the phones.
You either forgot your sarc tag or didn’t read my comment.
They weren’t screwed by the relief bill. They were screwed by the Chicoms and the pornfear karens who caused them to lose their jobs.
I should be so unlucky as to get $300/week for doing nothing.
There is a problem with your statement.
There are only 2 ways to define both aspects: They are either mutually exclusive, or the same.
I would argue that they are the same, and that both the porn fear Karens & those pulling the strings in DC march to the CCP fiddle.
Thus getting screwed by the bill - recall that this was payola for votes - is a continuation of the prior, initiated by the CCP.
If they were mutually exclusive, we wouldn’t be having this conversation, as there would be no ‘virus crisis’.
My daughter knows of a girl, 18, who claimed she made $50k in a 4 month period (she prob made like $6k) and NY state sent her a $6k check right away + like $800/wk thereafter. Are they even keeping up with these fraudsters at all?
Are they even keeping up...
The question is: are they even TRYING to find fraud. A friend works in a benefits fraud division of a certain state. The people on the front end are trained not to bother verifying that someone is eligible for whatever benefit. The people on the back end are told to close cases as there are too many of them. A blue state...what can you say?
this former pub is not too pleased either....give me my money or give me something else......excluded and deluded....
Is Unemployment income subject to taxation (state or fed).
I believe the first 10,000 is exempt.
Don’t be so foolish the money in the American Relief bill doesn’t go to Americans
The times I’ve drawn unemployment compensation every single dime was taxable income.
Jokes & idiocy aside, ya’ll read it here first.
