The Founders had faith in the American people. The Democrats, not so much.
To celebrate their origins, the Republican Party holds Lincoln Day dinners, and the Democrats until recently held Jefferson-Jackson dinners. Thomas Jefferson, author of the Declaration of Independence and the third U.S. president, has fallen out of favor because he owned slaves. In 1779, he wrote "A Bill Concerning Slaves" for Virginia, which, though it opened the door a crack toward eventual emancipation, still perpetuated slavery with harsh penalties for any infractions.
But for those who would denounce Jefferson as a racist, the bill does contain a provision on gun control that modern liberals want to expand upon. Section IX declares, "No slaves shall keep any arms whatever, nor pass, unless with written orders from his master or employer, or in his company, with arms from one place to another. Arms in possession of a slave contrary to this prohibition shall be forfeited to him who will seize them."
Gun control, or who would control guns, was for the Founders a question of who was free and who was not. The Second Amendment to the Bill of Rights applied only to free people with the aim of keeping them free. The amendment mentions the "militia," and this has thrown some people off regarding the private ownership of guns. But the Founders established what the militia was in bills passed by Congress in 1792 and 1795. The 1795 Militia Act declared "[t]hat each and every free able-bodied white male citizen of the respective States, resident therein, who is or shall be of age of eighteen years, and under the age of forty-five years (except as is herein after excepted) shall severally and respectively be enrolled in the militia."

It seems to me that the most dangerous thing in the last 100 years or so, ranked by loss of human life, is leftist governments. There is a very good reason that leftist governments do not want their subjects (future victims) to be armed.

I think we should constantly link the First Amendment to the Second Amendment.
Can we outlaw Islam? Should the government shut down all the mosques? Sadly, no. The First Amendment prevents us from doing that. We cannot pick “some” religions to protect. We have to protect all of them, no matter how we may feel about some of them.
The Second Amendnment should be viewed the same way. “Shall not be infringed”. You can’t pick and choose. You can’t infringe the stuff that “deserves” to be infringed. You need to protect it all. Which we have not done.
If the Second goes, we lose it all.

The current situation mimics the 1930’s Germany. In 1932 the Nazis requested all gun owners in Germany to license their firearms and they gladly did so. In 1938 the Nazis demanded surrender of all firearms and those who did not comply immediately were summarily executed in their own homes and their firearms were confiscated, after that Kristlalnacht changed Germany and Germany was summarily destroyed by the Allies. With the current border situation, H.R.1, new Firearm Legislation and the trillion dollar expenditures by the Congress, the USA is summarily being destroyed.

LAUGH BREAK---DEMOCRAPS HOISTED ON THEIR OWN PETARD---SCHADENFREUD OF THE DAY:
Democrats once proudly held "Jefferson Day" dinners. But lo and behold--- the once-esteemed Thomas Jefferson, author of
the Declaration of Independence, our third U.S. president, has fallen out of Democrat favor. Why? Because he owned slaves. DEMOCRAP WOKEISM BITES BACK----In 1779, Jefferson wrote "A Bill Concerning Slaves" for Virginia that perpetuated
slavery with harsh penalties for any infractions. From 1776 to 1779 Thomas Jefferson served as a member of the Virginia House of Delegates, not far from his home at Monticello.
His bill would actully have abolished slavery in Virginia. Jefferson failed to get it passed. "[T]he public mind would not yet bear the proposition," Jefferson later wrote. "Yet the day is not distant when it must bear and adapt it, or worse will follow."
What was passed instead was a bill outlawing the importation of new slaves into Virginia. That bill did nothing, however, to end the enslavement of those already in the system, or their future children. And it did nothing to end the internal slave trade within the state of Virginia. The text of the 1799 bill can be found at the Library of Congress.

Can we outlaw Islam? Should the government shut down all the mosques? Sadly, no. I disagree. Islam is a worldview, not a religion, that is antithetical to the Constitution. The Constitution gaurentees us a Republican form of government. Fundamentalist islamists, and Socialist/Globalists, by the very nature of their beliefs seek to over turn and destroy the Constitution, which is illegal. All it takes is the political will to treat them both as they should be treated.

It's not just the 2nd Amendment. They're also drawing a bead on the 4th.
OK, before I blow a blood pressure cuff on this issue, please keep in mind the warnings provided on these pages about DHS now starting to assemble lists of dissident citizens under the guise of domestic extremists. {Go Deep} Also remind yourself the same DHS and FBI are now using private contractors embedded in Big Tech to scour public information on social media and provide feedback to help DHS assemble those lists. {Go Deep}
Now, we take that foundation and build it one step further…. This well-written report about the recent Senate Armed Services Committee discussion with the National Security Agency (NSA) needs to be absorbed with the prior information as context. These paragraphs are alarming in the extreme (emphasis mine):
[…] “Several members of the Senate Armed Services Committee on Thursday voiced their support for expanded authorities for the NSA and U.S. Cyber Command to conduct more intelligence gathering domestically, something that the Biden administration already is exploring, according to Gen. Paul Nakasone, who leads both agencies.”
“Former NSA general counsel Glenn Gertstell has argued that an expansion of NSA authorities to collect domestic intelligence is overdue. “It can’t possibly be the case that the Fourth Amendment ties our hands in such a way that we just have to sit there and watch the Chinese romp through our infrastructure,” he told the Wall Street Journal in March. The Fourth Amendment protects against unreasonable searches and [NSA Director] Nakasone cited it as a key obstacle to potential expansion of the NSA’s powers domestically.” (read more)
The Fourth Amendment is an “obstacle“?…. WTF kind of outlook is that.
Despite their efforts, their ongoing efforts, to destroy what remaining privacy safeguards are in place…. I do not want to live in a nation that loses the fundamental protection of the Fourth Amendment:
“The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.” (citation)

It seems to me like they are doing a pretty good job of getting our freedoms without getting our guns. Their strategy is like the “Anaconda Plan” slowly make changes and strangle the life out of conservatives one day at a time.
