Markey and progressive Democrats see infrastructure bill as a way to accomplish Green New Deal goals

WASHINGTON - In the viral ad that helped put his underdog campaign on a glide path to victory last summer, Senator Ed Markey cast himself as the Green New Dealmaker, an old hand in vintage sneakers who was agitating for sweeping progress on climate change.

“We’ve got to make sure President Biden signs the Green New Deal,” Markey said. “We can’t wait.”

Six months later, that isn’t going to happen - not exactly. But Markey and other progressives still insist they are on the cusp of the most consequential environmental legislation in a generation.

The Biden administration has indicated that it plans to use its infrastructure proposal, a package to be unveiled on Wednesday that reportedly could cost as much as $4 trillion, to supercharge the nation’s clean energy transition. The move could set the stage for a drop in emissions and represents a broader change in how Democrats tackle the issue of climate.

“It’s a way of accomplishing many of the goals of the Green New Deal,” Markey told the Globe, saying he will urge his colleagues “to go big and bold to match the urgency of the moment.”

More likely they will stuff it all into an ‘end of the year’ ‘must pass’ omnibus bill.

The New Green Deal proposes to destroy and rebuild every building in the United States.

I expect they will accomplish the first half of the mission.

More old ideas from the previous JoeBama administration that failed miserably!
And they could never account for the money used with nothing to show for it!

Markey is one of the most stupid people in congress. And there’s a lot of competition.

Two quotes from Lenin
1- The way to crush the bourgeoisie is to grind them between the millstones of high taxation and inflation.
2- The best way to destroy the capitalist system is to debauch the currency.
Any questions about their plan?????

All I know is that it’s a good time to get into making signs because they’ll be put all over the place like during Obama’s shovel ready projects. They probably spent more money on signs telling us about it than the work they were actually doing.

I wonder of any of the critters promoting the Green New Deal, or any of the GND predecessors, ever specifically called out air travel and/or cruise travel.

Some low-I.Q. people on the Cruise Critic site think cruising will be hunky dory and back to normal in a few months. I’d like to explain to them that TPTB in DC will do all they can to thwart cruise ships using fossil fuel.

in sources I can’t post on FR because of copyright, the headlines are repetative - Biden has been meeting with Hoover/FDR historians so as to model his admin on a NewDeal2

They are already heralding Biden as the most exceptional president in US history, willing to ‘learn from history instead of on the fly’ as they push societal regression policies (not green new deal - new deal welfare) as the path to the future to erase Reagan capitalism and individualism and further socialism/communism.

Bloomb..rg and MSBC Brian Seltzer have been honing the narrative in flowery articles.

We need to push back. HARD.
