These people are trying to justify the greatest form of tyranny imaginable, to deny life to the people of countries that they despise and look down on, based on their lack of understanding of science.
Carbon Dioxide, a compound absolutely crucial and necessary for life to exist on Earth, has become a pollutant. Thus sayeth the Environmentalist Oligarchs that dominate the Global Junta. This is as ridiculous as it is obscene. Yet falsehoods become Gospel with these tyrants.

despite its name, it is an unreliable source, prone to making stuff up and making critical omissions plus bad writing - sentence structure, editing etc. Nice pictures

Over time it pretty much has to be in equilibrium. The emissions from rotting wood and leaves on the floor roughly equal to the sequestration of carbon in the new growth.
As the forest shrinks, the sequestration is probably reduced faster than than the emissions.

You get a net absorption of CO2 when you have GROWING forests.
We should be logging the forests, turning the hardwood into nice furniture and flooring, and then planting new trees in their place.

It's a SWAMP. Swamps contain rotting vegetable matter and they emit huge amounts of CO2, Methane and a whole slew of stinky things (scientific term).
And it's NOT NEW.
