15 Stunning Videos of the Pacific Northwest's Mystery Light Show in the Sky [rocket Debris?]

People in the Pacific Northwest were treated to quite a light show in the sky on Thursday night shortly before 9:00 p.m. local time, midnight ET. Social media users from Oregon to Canada reported seeing strange lights, and we have plenty of angles from last night’s display...

... there’s speculation from astronomers that the lights streaking across the sky were pieces of the second stage boosters from a Falcon 9 rocket that was carrying SpaceX Starlink satellites, there’s still no official word from Elon Musk’s space company.

It was a huge single item initially - as I said it seemed to span the dip between Mt Jupiter and another mountain whose name I forgot. It did seem to breakup into more than one item with fragments burning like a newspaper in a fire - after the large item passed, it was followed by two other smaller tracks separated by empty sky.

There was a report that a booster rocket of Russian origin entered the atmosphere west of the Coast - but it crashed into the ocean 400 miles out. Some one else reported the remains passed over Canada and crashed into eastern Washington, but no more was said, nothing either about any findings.

I could agree with you conclusion, but as I recall it ‘felt’ more like a ship with people aboard dying. Ship? Odd I would think that.

What I saw might fit that description, but that was in 1997 and far bigger - the filmed object here looked about the same size as the two smaller tracks that followed the significantly larger object I saw.

However, it is hard to be accurate as to size, as this item was filmed against city lights, whereas what I saw was in pitch darkness with no ambient light whatsoever - the kind of darkness one finds in closed closet in a windowless basement

"Great flick!"

It was a cool flick, and I liked how they were a bit "ecumenical," in making sure they also worked Army and USAF servicemembers into the effort which dealt primarily with a USMC platoon.

Most of the film was actually shot in and around Shreveport, LA owing to the same Louisiana film production tax breaks that gave birth to "Swamp People," "Cajun Pawn Stars," etc.

I think the film's lead, Aaron Eckhart, is a pretty underrated actor and give him credit, even though he's made a few libtard pronouncements in past years. At least this film was unapologetically pro-military.

Wouldn’t that have been fun if they had done that and if those things had come raining down.

They would likely have burned up on the way down and pose no risk. One nuclear powered sat crashed years ago in Canada amid much media hand wringing with no release of radioactivity and no further press ...

Thanks, had never heard of the flick.

If an entire orbit takes roughly ninety minutes, fifteen minutes would be roughly one sixth of the orbital circumferential track. That arc is way more than the distance acroos the region, so whatever you witnessed would have been traveling much slower than orbiting velocity for it to remain visible above you. If it was disintegrating in the atmosphere it was much lower than a geosynchronous orbit.

UNLESS it was something in geo orbit that was on fire before it began falling out of orbit ...

A cloudless moonless night sky is not dark like a closed off basement. When driving up to Greenbank one spring I was on a road through a closed off valley by surroundiing mountains. The Milky Way was visible from horizon to horizon and lit the valley well enough for me to see pennies I dropped accidentally from my camera bag when preparing to take some photos out the back of my Rodeo. That was an awesome experience to have nothing but starlight illuminating the valley! I could even see cattle more than 400 yards away from the road.

Well your personal millage obviously varies - most people do not know what real darkness is, since they live in well lit areas or where there is lots of ambient light, and it was for them that I described it as I did.

The dark you describe is much brighter than we experienced since we were well-shaded by 10,000-12,000 foot mountains; there was no horizon nor was the Milky Way visible from our position on the beach. The beach at our feet was not visible. It was literally as dark as a closet in a closed off basement. Pitch Black.

If you were witnessing something in the sky above you then you had horizons. The horizon may have been closer than if at sea but you had horizons. Could you see any stars in the sky overhead?

We were effectively in a bowl bordered by mountains on all sides but one narrow opening - the bay inlet.

If you insist on arguing further, I do not have time to rehash the picture I painted - so just drop it.

I am not arguing, I am asking the natural questions I would ask of any sighting as a licensed field investigator for MUFON. For instance, if you had any missing time there is a distinct possibility that you were an abductee. The absence of stars in the night sky where you saw this fifteen minute display is a telling sign since to see the display you would have had a backdrop of stars or if too much ambient light then no pitch blackness. But it is your experience so I will ask no further questions of you. I am not arguing, I am gathering data points.
