The LEGO Van Gogh looks like he has both ears.

Apparently so, which would be inaccurate for the time he painted “The Starry Night”, as he cut off his ear 6 months earlier.

I went to check and see if that painting was pre- or post-ear bobbing.

I've got a print "Almond Blossoms" on the wall at the foot of my bed.   It matched well with the decorating my wife had already planned.

"I would say that every painting is technically “rare” since its unique."

As an artist of mediocre talent I get what you're saying, and it's flattering, but by your logic there's nothing special about a 1933 Bugatti, since almost everybody has a car.

Yes every painting is "unique," but post-impressionist masterpieces by highly renowned artists that happen to be for sale are far more "unique" than others.

so the wording of the article misleads—it means to say that a painting of such high caliber is rarely on the market and available.

but the painting itself is one of a kind.

cars are different—some cars are more rare then others. perhaps there might only be 25 known cars of a certain type of classic Ford Mustang, but there might 500 known cars of a special plymouth roadrunner production running around out there.
The Mustang is truly rare.

But the Mona Lisa is unique.

I intended to have a career in art and studied all through school and into college.   I realized that it would never happen when I compared myself with my peers.   I do feel a strong connection with Van Gogh because I was born one hundred years to the day after him.

Well that’s certainly something to be proud of.....I took an interest in art, strictly for decoration purposes when we redid the house about 25 years ago. We’d see something that might go with some new colors......like a Monet over the piano. I dunno, I just somehow got interested in VanGogh, Theo and starving artists of that time.....Don McLean really impressed my heart with ‘Vincent’. I’m not in any way knowledgeable about these painters but enjoy reading about them and look through their paintings when I get an itch to change something in the house that might compliment a painting or visa versa. We’ve had Southwest, English Cottage, Traditional in our den.......now we’re going rustic......gotta look for some more art.....thoughts? :)
