The Spectator’s Amber Athey reports that South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem says she’s the victim of “conservative cancel culture” over her opposition to a bill making its way through the state legislature to “promote continued fairness in women’s sports”

Nope. This is a massive capitulation on a major issue. She is damaged goods. Not only on the decision but her terrible sales job. This is reminiscent of Rubio’s immigration bill 9 years ago. A shooting star wilting under the spotlight on big issues. She has a big hole to dig out of.
I liked her a lot, and thought she was right on the substance of the bill. Tucker was wrong. But her reaction to the criticism has soured me on her big-time.
Agreed. Beyond time to stop digging.
Victim = Loser.
Move along.....
UGH, is she another Nimrata Nikki Randhawa
look.
she came up tea party in 2010. i gave her money.
she was a disappointment to all of us in the house.
she supported gope establishment positions for the most part under boehner, cantor, scalise, mccarthy, etc.
she moved up in the hierarchy.
those are the facts. i’m not surprised that noem is very much like pence.
these people are very good at playing the average republican low info voter. i expect better from this site.
learn the history.
Signed a bill that would require this amount of “big government” administrative intervention in schools? Sign the bill that would allow anyone who didn’t make a team and accuses a team member of using performance enhancing drugs to sue the person and the school? I am so glad we have a Governor who actually thinks about the implications of a bill before signing it.
From her letter:
For example, Section 2 of House Bill 1217 requires a student athlete to verify, each year, that the student “is not taking and has not taken, during the preceding twelve months, any performance enhancing drugs, including anabolic steroids.”
Presumably, this requirement was included to address a student taking these drugs as a part of a gender transition, but House Bill 1217 is not limited in this way. Rather, if a male student athlete failed to make the football team, and later learned that another student on the team was taking steroids without disclosing it, the student who didn’t make the team would be entitled to sue both the school and the steroid-using student for damages.
In addition, Section 2 creates an unworkable administrative burden on schools, who under its terms must collect verification forms from every student athlete, every year, as to age, biological sex, and use of performance-enhancing drugs; and furthermore must monitor these disclosures throughout the year so that if “reasonable cause” is found of a false or misleading form, the school can take action to avoid civil liability.
You can read her whole letter here.
I want more Marjorie Taylor Greene’s and less Noem’s.
No,she really isn’t helping herself. I always liked her and her commercials for South Dakota.
Now, I wonder. She flubbed the interview with Tucker Carlson and last night Tucker had a rebuttal sort of person on the issue.
I’m sorry I don’t remember his name but he is a black Democrat from South Carolina, a member, I think, of the state house.
He is proposing a bill that would make it illegal to provide body-altering surgery and hormones to teens (and younger!) until they are 18.
He said that his proposal is appreciated by his constituents and that blacks are often more conservative than people think.
“As we saw with Mike Pence, it doesn’t get better.”
Yup. He caved on the homosexual/trans-freakshow when he was governor. That made it easy to cave on important issues in the future.
Stop shoveling.
“I had high hopes for her.”
Me, too. Glad we had this learning experience now instead of three years from now.
Well, she already lost the lawsuit, by default.
Well, isn’t that what constituents are supposed to do when their elected leaders betray their trust?
“The Guv seemingly went from the next President to cancelled overnight.”
Sorry, but this is EXACTLY the time to sorting out candidates. She stepped in it and continues to step DEEPER into it. Most of us would rather see that now, then wind up with another McCain.
I think Kristi just put a fork in her presidential chances.
Noem is no more.
The woman doesn’t know when to stop digging the hole she’s in. First, my position is misunderstood. When that lie didn’t fly she now pulls out the Victim Card.
She got caught and now she’s upset with the people that caught her. If sge ever had a thought about national politics she has sunk that ship at the pier.
“All that “conservative cancel culture” language did was give some ammo to left to use against us.”
Good point, the Left will LATCH ON to her saying just that, and use it against every conservative they oppose.
Wonderful.
“She can still get out of it and sign HB 1217 no matter what it says.”
That would minimize the damage, but there would still be damage, and the courts will use her words against her.
