That’s pretty common in government to help with issues management that is of a high profile. It is ultimately Biden’s show and the Border Patrol works for Biden.
The same happened in the Trump administration especially when certain people went off without White House approval.

The only images I have seen are from Project Veritas (which is Latin for the word truth), from a supposed inside leak. That press is unable to view the facilities by orders from higher up, like the White House.

I scoured the Border Patrol web site for phone numbers, today, March 23, 2021. I intended to call them for verification or denial of a radio report I had heard. I couldn’t find any phone numbers.
I called the office of U.S. Senator Todd Young (R-IN in Washington, DC, and asked for phone numbers for the Border Patrol or for INS. Senator Young’s staff insisted that they didn’t have it. I asked for a call back or email with the information. I got no promise.

That likely means that it takes DHS approval from someone in headquarters. However, since they all report ultimately to resident Biden, the statement is technically correct.
