LOS ANGELES (AP) — George Segal, the banjo player turned actor who was nominated for an Oscar for 1966's “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?,” and starred in the ABC sitcom “The Goldbergs,” died Tuesday in Santa Rosa, California, his wife said. He was 87.

I enjoyed his acting... RIP.
Good actor.
RIP King Rat...
Sad to hear. He was especially good in: “No Way to Treat a Lady”

The Bridge At Remagen
All of the actors/actresses I enjoyed are dying. It always saddens me. As a TCM fan I am constantly reminded of our mortality.
enjoyed him on the big screen a lot. RIP.
I’ve enjoyed George Segal’s acting since seeing him in the movie “The Owl & The Pussycat” with Barbara Striesand.
Both had a good sense of humor and timing.
I was not a fan of his last show The Goldbergs.
The little I saw of it: Everybody on that show was YELLING!
I don’t recall yelling at home during the 1980’s. Not like that.
Also, each character on that show was obnoxious in their own way. Lot’s of sibling teasing going on.
The Longest Day, The Bridge at Remagen, the Terminal Man...
The latter movie is ironic, written by Michael Chrichton, where the author was fired from writing the screenplay because he varied too far away from his own novel.
Though truthfully, it deserves a remake with a sharper screenplay and more modern effects.
RIP, sad news!
He was in the 70’s movie “Fun with Dick and Jane”. Unfortunately, he was co-starred with Jane Fonda (*spit*). It was a lot funnier than the awful remake with Jim Carrey.
He was a great actor, and a fantastic banjo picker.
RIP
From what I have seen of the show, it is a real life documentary of the character “Adam” set in the 1980s. The theme of the first 2/3rds of the show is a family quarreling internally and externally but then the final moments are somewhat sappy in that family love unites and shines. It isn’t anything appalling by today’s standards but then again the 1980s was an awesome time to be alive.
Yes, you’re right that’s in the piece. Burton and Segal and Liz Taylor and Sandy Dennis were all nominated. Both ladies won, the gentlemen did not.
The Black Bird was a silly fun movie.
It’s weird seeing him on the old Larry Sanders Show knowing that Garry Shandling proceeded him in death by four years and 21 birth years.
George Segal in King Rat
I love the “Maltese Falcon” spoof “The Black Bird” - he was perfectly cast for that role. It’s a shame the studio axed the plan of having him do a series of Sam Spade spoof movies.
I know a 50 y/o woman who LOVES that show.
It just never lit me up.
To each his own entertainment.
Of course, this Lady likes Family Feud too, the newer, raunchy version.
