A Girl Scout troop leader is accused of stealing about $12,500 in money from cookie sales and event fees.
The Ohio Attorney General’s Office said Gauthier deposited the cookie money into personal bank accounts for about five years. Parents alerted authorities, which prompted an investigation by the attorney general’s office and the Pataskala Police Department.

Had this happen after our troop’s annual Boy Scout fundraiser. The treasurer decided to gamble away the proceeds. It was a significant amount of money. To his credit, he withdrew money from his 401 K to pay the troop back. That was most likely saved him from going to prison. I think that his wife divorced him. It was a very sad situation.
maybe she thought it took $12,500 to “be prepared”.
The girls would have been much better at handling their money than an adult because adults know better, right?
Pataskala, Ohio is a wide bend in the road. That is a lot of $$ for a small town.
Bad decision but there should have been more eyes on the cash. Never trust anyone including yourself.
Girl Scout Cookies are made by one or two bakeries. ABC and Little Brown.
ABC Bakeries sells unbranded boxes of the same cookies - in Salem VA get them at Big Lots or The Dollar Store, for $1.
