Thank you!
I just ADORE all of this❣❤
“They look fantastic.”

You mean ‘marvelous’? LOL
Billy Crystal really milks the phrase in this video. Enjoy.

Right-I love the properly tailored clothes that we used to wear ... even in the ‘60’s.
Nothing flatters the human figure as much as careful tailoring that recognizes and follows the form of the human body.
Once ‘casual’ fabrics got here, it all went away. Everything became S, M or L. That is not flattering and those fabrics can’t compare with fabrics that can be cut and styled to fit and flatter.
Watching old films, in womens’ things especially, the old ‘Handmaker Suits’ were incredibly stunning, versatile and accessory friendly.
We also like vintage items in the kitchen. We have toasters from the 1920’s and ~1950, along with a waffle iron and water kettle from the 1940’s. This stuff was very well made and just keeps going. Love it.
Definitely worth your time. You’ll get an education reading that series. It is so well researched. Stephenson does a real deep dive.
I say this a lot here but let me tell you

Foyle's War is an outstanding series!
Sounds good!
Growing up in the 50s, I wore a lot of cousin’s 40s vintage clothes...Back then we called them hand-me-downs...
“One reason I like to watch old movies is that people dressed so much better then.”
Men’s suits in the 30s and 40s were great. Hats too.
Ordinary people dressed better when they were going out in public. Modern America is composed of slobs.
An elderly friend passed away. The kids were bemoaning that she threw out all their vintage clothing from the 70’s. The estate sale people said that was getting good money.
Also in demand was 1970’s office decor and home-made mixed tapes on cassettes!
This couple really look sharp. Being utterly inept at hair styling and having bad feet, I don’t think I could pull it off like they do. A lot of effort goes into what they are doing - matching shoes & bag, make up, 40’s hair, furs . . . very stylish.
Maaaaahvelous darling... ;)
Not my style but I love looking at the photos. Its like pics of my Mom and Dad. My Dad always wore a hat.
I put together a slide show when my mom passed away. Born in 1918. There is one photo of her dad and the three other daughters at the park. He is wearing a suit and a white round flat-top straw hat (late 1920’s). Behind them are three men walking. Suits and the same white hats. (Just looked it up - called a “Boater” hat).
Spandex and mullets...
I like that plus the cars.
Brit tv always has on reality shows focusing on living during a different time period. Several of my favorites are Victoria times, and Christmas Across the Decades. Really enjoyable viewing.
