Parisians thronged the streets of the French capital at the weekend to enjoy the spring sunshine despite the city being plunged back into strict lockdown measures.
Prime Minister Jean Castex last week told people in Paris, Lyon and Nice to stay inside unless absolutely necessary with all non-essential shops closed in an attempt to slow down a third wave of Covid.
But he was undermined by Emmanuel Macron who insisted on Friday that people were allowed to go outside and socialise and dismissed talk of 'lockdown' - saying it was not the right term to describe the new measures.

the lockdown was a mistake. of course it would cause a second wave when the door swung open...even a little bit.
Lock Downs do not prevent anything...all they are AT BEST is a time shifting mechanism... Once it was clear the health care system was in no danger of being overwhelmed they should have ended... that was apparently other than for a few hot spots last APRIL!

The majority of people who are dying from Covid have a vitamin D deficiency. Everyone should be outside, just as you say. In the history of the world we have never quarantined the healthy. It is totalitarian insanity.
Data point: When the yellow jackets were a thing last year the cops went out and busted skulls.

If they want “lockdowns” it is the most vulnerable they need to quarantine, not lock down the healthy and those for whom the virus is not a death sentence.
