WINDERMERE, Fla. — Former New York Yankee Johnny Damon touted his support for both former President Donald Trump and pro-police movement “Blue Lives Matter” in video released of his February arrest for resisting in Florida after he was pulled over on a suspicion of DUI.
In the video (which contains explicit language), Damon can be seen already outside his car as he’s pulled over by a Windermere, Florida police officer. He is immediately told to get back in the car, as is the woman he is with, his wife Michelle Mangan-Damon, who has left the passenger seat of the vehicle.
Damon is asked by the officer how much he has had to drink tonight.
“A little bit,” Damon responds.
The officer then explains that Damon left his lane while driving multiple times and hit a curb. He then has to tell the woman to get back into the car. Damon is then apprehended after the officer struggles to get Damon and Mangan-Damon to comply.
Damon can then be heard saying “blue lives matter” multiple times, referring to the pro-police movement.
“We are all for cops,” Damon says twice, as Mangan-Damon asks the officer to look at their license plate, which contains “blue lives matter” insignia. Another officer then arrives on the scene.
Damon then identifies himself to the officer, continuing to profess support for police and at one point says “believe me, I am blue lives matter.”
At one point, Damon brought up his support for former President Trump to a cop, saying “hey, bro, I’m a good f—ing guy. I know people are trying to target me because I’m a Trump supporter.”
The former outfielder was eventually booked and arrested on several charges, including non-violent resisting arrest. Mangan-Damon was also arrested.
Both the Orlando Sentinel and TMZ reported that Damon’s blood-alcohol level was later measured between .294 and .300, according to an arrest report — nearly four times the state’s legal limit for driving.
Damon was a key member of the 2004 World Series champion Boston Red Sox team. He later helped the New York Yankees win the 2009 World Series.
Johnny...I think many people have no idea that you are a Trump supporter...Johnny should get some help for his drinking problems...
Do police typically release video of routine traffic stops?
Could be true but does it matter?
Johnny... Uber or Lyft. Or with your money, hire a full-time driver.
In my day I would have driven Johnny and his wife home, and have them pick up their car the next day. I’d also suggest that he get himself in the program. But that was a different time in what seems like a different country.
>Johnny...I think many people have no idea that you are a Trump supporter...Johnny should get some help for his drinking problems...<
I agree.
“Damon is asked by the officer how much he has had to drink tonight.
“A little bit,” Damon responds.”
Sure, Johnny.
You just had a little bit to drink.
Yeah, the cops and jury are certain to believe you.
.294 is a great batting average for a Major League hitter, but a bad blood alcohol level.
Never understood why celebrities drive drunk. A luxury limo for a night even in an expensive city should be under $1,000.00 which is peanuts for someone with lifetime earnings well over $200,000,000.00.
FL police are all about making money to support the state. The justice system is #2 in revenue with tourism being #1. That might have flipped this past year with tourism being shut down for most of it.
Don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time.
Isn't Damon part Asian? Aren't Asians supposed to be made at Trump?
This was in Windermere Florida a mile or two from my house. The cops have always had the deserved reputation of pulling anyone going as little as 3 to 5 miles an hour over the 30 MPH limit.
My wife was on a jury for a DUI that happened there. The lady cop at the trial stated where she was parked when she observed the defendant swerve. At deliberation she explained that she drives by where the cop said she was parked every day and there is a giant hedge there and it would have been impossible to see the defendant’s car. All the jurors said ‘oh, okay, not guilty, case closed.’
Damon is a lock for the DWI Hall of Fame.
In some states, they have no choice. I’m almost positive FL is one of those states. Just like 911 calls that don’t involve minor children, someone only need to file a FOIA request.
They are always very free and open with their video.
Unless they don’t want to be.
Charlie Sheen has never had a DUI. He is drunk and stoned all of the time and he travels all over town while he is drunk and stoned....and sitting in the back seat of his chauffer driven limousine.
Drunk is drunk, trying to get excuse for politics is lame. Just go to jail...
An uber ride would have been less than $25.
Never occurred to me he is a Trump supporters. He needs to watch his drinking. Not sure why the police felt the need to humiliate him more than the other drunk drivers.
