As for what I can own... It’s ain’t anyone else’s business as per 2A.

Tell that to the feds if you choose to own a full automatic firearm.

My take: it’s no longer a bow when it uses fin stabilized discarding sabots.

It is, however, infinitely badass.

I just want something that will drop a raccoon on the top of my garbage cans without waking the neighbors.

Considerate of neighbors. Always a good policy.

Most states that allow crossbows have special “primitive” weapon seasons before regular rifle seasons. My state has bow season (no crossbows or fancy sights allowed) before rifle.

The reason why people are complaining is because these type crossbows no longer fall into the “primitive” category. They shouldn’t be given a head start over rifle season.

Heck no it isn't overkill. It won't be overkill until an autonomous robot takes it out into the weeds, kills the deer, guts it, butchers it, and delivers it back to me in little styrofoam tray and plastic wrap packages.

I'll still want one.

“I just want something that will drop a racoon on the top of my garbage cans without waking the neighbors. Is there something that isnt a toy out there for 3-400?”

For that purpose I would get one of the new pellet rifles.

For less than $150 you can get a 22 cal break-barrel gas piston rifle that doesn’t make that much noise and will drop coon sized game in their tracks. As a bonus $20 will get you enough ammo for 500 shots!

A good friend had shoulder surgery this past year so he bought a crossbow for fall deer hunting and he loved it. Said he’ll probably not go back to using a gun because he’s concerned that he will re-injure his repaired shoulder.

If it gets the job done, that’s fine with me. :)

What about the "Instant Legolas"? Does that still count as "bow hunting" if you use that?
