A March 16 letter signed by 50 House Democrats urges President Joe Biden to reduce the Pentagon’s budget to pay for other activities.
The letter is intended to influence the president’s budget proposal for fiscal year 2022 which the administration is expected to submit to Congress in early May. According to media reports, Biden intends to request about $704 billion for the Defense Department, which is close to what the Pentagon got in 2021.
The lawmakers asked Biden to “re-evaluate our spending priorities as a nation. That re-evaluation should begin with the Department of Defense. Hundreds of billions of dollars now directed to the military would have greater return if invested in diplomacy, humanitarian aid, global public health, sustainability initiatives, and basic research.”

When one looks at the fiscal pie, DOD is pretty small. Entitlements eat up most of our spending and it is killing the country but the left cares less if the USA goes down in flames by the Chicoms or societal collapse

Wouldn’t be a bad idea to cut military spending if they cut everywhere else too. Just spending the money on pointless nonsense doesn’t help balance the budget though.
After watching troops protect the installation of Joe Biden after he lost the 2020 election, Americans should love this.
I see veterans describing losing friends in Afghanistan so “little girls can go to school”; nobody ever sold that campaign as such to the American voters/taxpayers, and I don’t know anybody who enlisted for that goal.
They are armed social engineers now, I guess...
Feds cut the military, cities cut the police, they want our guns and courts are turning out the criminals, what a recipe for a safe country.
When Democrats get into power, the playbook never changes: grovel before our enemies, shift military spending to “social” programs, raise taxes, but by not nearly enough to cover the additional “social” spending, and root out all the “subversive” elements in the military.
Including heterosexual males.

Given that taxpayers are now paying for ‘gender reassignment’ surgery for trannies who join the Military, and they are spending so much time tweeting their annoyance at Tucker Carlson, I’m all for cutting the defense budget.
Because they are becoming more about social engineering than they are defense of the nation..
