A new study that looks at the presence of coronavirus antibodies in nearly 62,000 life insurance applicants found that... the number of asymptomatic or undiagnosed coronavirus infections in the U.S. may have been twice as high as the official tally of cases overall.
The findings, published Tuesday in the journal JAMA Network Open, indicate that there were millions more asymptomatic and undiagnosed people than experts had realized...
SARS-CoV-2 can cause moderate to severe cases of COVID-19. ... But in many people, an infection can come and go while causing minimal or no discernible symptoms.
Researchers have long suspected that the official coronavirus case totals were an undercount of the true number.
Clinical Reference Laboratory Inc. in Lenexa, Kan., tested blood samples provided by 61,910 life insurance applicants to look for the presence of antibodies to SARS-CoV-2. They recorded each applicant’s age, sex, state of residence and antibody status; all other personal data were scrubbed.
All of the applicants reported that they were healthy when they provided the blood samples. But in 4,094 of the 61,910 cases, the researchers found evidence of a past coronavirus infection in the form of antibodies.
Then the researchers used 2019 census data estimates to scale up the resulting antibody-positive rates for the entire country. They did a state-by-state analysis using the antibody results for life insurance applicants from each state.
New York had the highest rate, at 14.4%, followed by Louisiana at 12% and Nevada at 10%. At the other end of the spectrum, the antibody prevalence rate was 0% in Alaska, 0.6% in Maine, 1.4% in Oregon, 1.8% in Hawaii and 1.9% in New Mexico.
Overall, the team estimated that 15.9 million asymptomatic or undiagnosed SARS-CoV-2 infections had taken place in the U.S. as of Sept. 30.

One could argue that if there were that many asymptomatic cases, then the rate the asymptomatic infected others must have been very miniscule. That would of course completely undermine the CV mitigation protocols (masking, social distancing, etc.P).
Fauci has admitted as much in his recent statements that asymptomatic transmission might be very low.
That reminds me of when the CDC told us that HIV/AIDS was an existential threat because of the imminent breakout into the heterosexual population.
Both of those are an very similar exaggeration designed to increase funding to the CDC/NIH.
I am sure that my wife and I and most of my coworkers had it in January of 2020. Worst flu of my life, took a month to clear out our lungs, but it was just another flu as far as we were concerned.
We live in a college town that had thousands of Chinese students at the time.
And my wife works in the economics department, which was nothing but Chinese grad students at the time who had all just returned from China after the holidays.

And these numbers are from 5-1/2 months ago. I bet in that time the numbers are 50% higher, so ~23 million.

Misleading headline.
The finding confirms the virus is not as deadly or dangerous as thought. This has been known since last spring/summer.
The headline presents it as if it means “the pandemic” (they love that word) is worse than we thought but it in fact means the opposite.

Very similar and the same ruse used wherein any death asociated in any way with a positive test is attributed to the virus infection.

I’m sure that played a part but one must remember that CDC/NIH/Fauci had only limited control over what first line coroners put on death certificates. Sure, they could influence, but they didn’t write the certificates. They could, however, completely control the narrative about the
importance of asymptomatic infections driving the case rates.
Here’s the point: even without associating the deaths falsely attributed to the virus, you can still build a narrative about the existential nature of the virus. Take away the threat of asymptomatic infections and the threat narrative collapses completely because the millions of asymptomatic potential spreaders completely swamps the small numbers of the deaths falsely attributed to the virus.
And were the folks with antibodies able to get life insurance?

Just a bit misleading...implies a much greater finding. Antibodies were only present in 4,094 of the 62K applicants.
IMHO, a real analysis of the case of “chicom virus” that separates out the normal flue season cases that were counted as covid will show that the pandemic is fake news...
It could be that, for instance, much of the death among senior citizens was due to flue/pneumonia being treated with covid medicines or protocols...
Nothing can make me believe that the average-annual-flue rate for the past century just plummeted to insignificance on its own...
Antibodies effectively disappear a few weeks after infection. I’ll bet the real numbers are several times those.
