Archaeologists recently unearthed the skeletons of three Catholic nuns who were murdered by Soviet soldiers at the end of World War II. Their discovery concludes a months-long search for the bones of seven nuns who were killed during the former Soviet Union's brutal occupation of the war-torn country.
Russia's Red Army invaded Poland [again] in 1944, as Nazi Germany withdrew their soldiers. During that time, Soviet forces sought to seize control by suppressing Polish militia and religious figures, imprisoning, deporting and killing Polish soldiers, clergy and civilians. Records from 1945 documented Soviet soldiers slaughtering seven nuns in the order of St. Catherine of Alexandria...
Historic documents, the age and sex of the remains, and the presence of numerous religious objects indicated that the skeletons belonged to the murdered nuns, the IPN said. The religious artifacts included articles of clothing associated with the St. Catherine order, small rosaries with polished beads, larger rosaries for wearing on a belt, a cross inlaid with metal designs and two medallions "with images of the holy family," IPN representatives said in the email.
As the Red Army advanced into cities and territories, soldiers looted and burned churches and religious buildings, and nuns were treated "with particular cruelty,"...
In February 1945, Russian forces descended upon hospitals in Gdańsk-Wrzeszcz, Olsztyn and Orneta, where nuns in the St. Catherine order served as nurses. Soldiers beat and stabbed patients and attacked the nuns who intervened, causing horrific injuries; Sister Rolanda's face "was mutilated and swollen beyond recognition," and Sister Gunhilda was shot three times...

Kinda reminds me of today's Democrats.
Don’t think the same thing cannot happen here particularly when the DNC “booed” the word “god” at their 2016 National Convention.
Complete with phony elections.
“In February 1945, Russian forces descended upon hospitals in Gdańsk-Wrzeszcz, Olsztyn and Orneta, where nuns in the St. Catherine order served as nurses. Soldiers beat and stabbed patients and attacked the nuns who intervened, causing horrific injuries;”
My great grandparents lived in Danzig’s Langfuhr district (renamed Gdańsk-Wrzeszcz at the end of the war) 1899-1945 when they were evicted by the Russians. My dad was born there and he was three years old when his dad moved the family to NYC in 1927.
This is the first I have heard about this atrocity against the nuns.
Thanks for posting this!
Two great movies about Polish nuns under the Soviets are “Ida” and “The Innocents.” I’ve only watched the former.
Euro Jews had to sew golden stars on their clothing to identify them from citizens. I wonder what Catholics and Christians will have to wear as identification to “appease” Dems.
I may be wearing a vest and some extra magazines, although the intent won’t be appeasement.
Holy martyrs pray for us as our Nation faces similar communist evil.
The same thing happened in Spain when the Communists...oh, excuse me, the American-supported “Republicans”...rushed in and killed thousands of nuns, priests and lay people. But now the new Marxist Spain is trying to and succeeding in wiping out its history and anathematizing the Catholic martyrs.
Poland still appears to be more or less Catholic, although I’ve read that there are a lot of groups...”feminists” and gays...attacking the Church and the government and getting a lot of power.
Yes, American “culture” is poisoning Poland.
Sadly that’s the truth.
Commies hate the church.
They aren’t getting power yet. The latest attacks have pro abortion folks allying with gays
Whoa! Just wait a minute here! How do they know that they didn’t “transition” to male!
This topic was posted , thanks BenLurkin. Missed this on the way through.
That photo is very familiar, or it’s similar to another I recall from the past. I swear a photo like this was part of a magazine, or news website spread that featured the family of either a well-known journalist, or a past Democrat White House staffer. I specifically remember people pointing out the fact that Soviet-era posters were hanging on the walls of their home. Does this jog anyone’s else’s memory?
