John McLean has quite the shark tale to tell.
In an interview with News 6, the Pensacola charter fishing captain shared details about the moment he helped reel in an estimated 12 to 13-foot female great white shark to shore. McClean said his fishing story began six years ago when he moved to Florida from Minnesota to pursue professional hockey.

We’re going to have to get a bigger boat.
John McClain caught a great white at Nakatomi plaza?
Catching a great white shark is racist!
God bless the man for making sure it was healthy and then returning it. Way too many people would have tortured and killed it for the sake of some damn selfies.
Seven guys from Idaho wanted a charter boat and captain of the charter puts them on the beach?
Yeah, he scored a machine gun. The shark, like Hans Gruber, never had a chance.

Sea Story: We were doing ops with experimental equipment in The Tongue of the Ocean (TOTO) and the our Captain had promised shark fishing to our senior First Class Machinist Mate who had fashioned his own shark hook. We were heading north off the coast of Florida when the MM1 reminded the Captain that he hadn’t had his shark fishing. I was the OOD, so the Captain ordered me to get to the top of our moving SUBNOTE box and surface for shark fishing. He told the MM1 that he had until the box was catching up with us to do his fishing.
We all thought we were safe from sharks in open water, but the MM1 caught one withing the first 15 minutes. He announced his intent to bring it on board though the Sail Trunk. Luckily, the sharp trailing edge of the Sail Plane cut his line as he was hoisting the shark out of the water, and we were saved from certain disaster.
Oh yeah. Turn it loose on the beach. Thanks a lot pal.
A great white caught off the beach at Pensacola, FL.
Hey, yall have fun on spring break in FL.
I used to like swimming off that beach... Used to.
Lots of shark fishers where I work. My guys stepped away from kyacks some time ago. They used drones now
Very common down here. They knew it was beach side. It’s just they way they fish for shark down here. It’s actually pretty cool in that the camp is all set up, no long boat rides, no seasickness, no problems. Sit on the beach, drink beer and catch big sharks. Not uncommon to see guys pulling in 8’ tigers and bulls.

There is just so much we can learn from sharks.
They have an electric car with a 500 mile range.
No. That Great White was once bitten, twice shy, baby.
“Seven guys from Idaho wanted a charter boat and captain of the charter puts them on the beach?”
I live down here and was more surprised by this than the catch. Apparently these guys set you up to fish 100% on the beach just like a charter boat. Sounds crazy right up to the point that you catch a 12 foot white shark.
