Small study shows powerful antibody response after first dose

Former COVID-19 patients may need only one dose of the Pfizer/BioNTech or Moderna vaccine to get the effect of two doses, researchers suggested.

The disease itself may "prime the body" to produce the antibodies seen with the two-dose regimen, according to an exploratory study reported at the virtual Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections that examined titer levels of antibodies in patients who had COVID-19 and those who did not.

Mark Mulligan, MD, director of the Vaccine Center at New York University Langone Health in New York City, said that 6 to 14 days after patients received a vaccine dose, the specific titers associated with infection response were dramatically higher in patients who had previously had COVID-19 than in coronavirus-naive vaccine recipients, with titer levels of 200 versus 27, respectively.

In addition, Mulligan said, the second dose in patients who had COVID-19 didn't measurably increase the titers, whereas it did for previously uninfected patients.

No one knows long term effects of mRNA vaccines. There is just no history more than a few months.

Anecdote from 1 family versus 60,000,000 inoculated already.
Means very little if anything at all.

All I can say for sure is there are 5 people in my immediate family who received the Moderna vaccines. No side effects whatsoever for any of them.

As you read this explanation, you discover that the Messenger RNA ["mRNA"] of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines, is an effective way to train antibodies to target the SARS-2-CoV virus Spike Proteins.

So Pfizer and Moderna trick your body into thinking you've had the disease AND recovered?

If you have already had the disease why would you need the vaccine at all?

My guess is to err on the side of caution.

A doctor once told me it's likely one tetanus shot will protect a person for a lifetime... but no doctor is willing to take the risk with a patient to find out. So, if you need a tetanus shot and it's been more than 10 years since you've had one, they'll give you another one.

Not a trick. The vaccines’ objective, is to train your body to be prepared to fight an arrival (in your body) of the SARS-2-CoV virus.

No previous recovery condition/status . . . though you raise an interesting consideration:

What, of the body, actually “thinks” that it has reached a state of recovery from COVID-19, but that “thought,” is a happenstance/result of the vaccines’ success . . . instead of the actual bug?

IOW, what are the various *collateral* activites and conclusions/results for those?

One concern: The lack of info, re sharing/spreading of the SARS-2-CoV virus *despite* having had a successful response to the vaccine?

Apparently, there is not *yet* a reliable YES/NO to that. Instead, there is, “So far, it seems that some people may still pass along the SARS-2-CoV *despite* having gone the vaccine route.”

I think, the important part of that concern, is the “some.” Meaning, the better part, is, we continue to reduce the chances of spreading the SARS-2-CoV virus.
