Unless the government is going to make those payments, it’s not going to fly, constitutionally.

Even then, there is no delegated power given to the federal to spend money for individual welfare at all, that includes paying rent. Just as there is no delegated power for Congress to regulate or interfere with private contracts among the several States, which includes rent or other leases.

“constitutionally”

The full stock of U.S. housing was determined by Zillow at a $36.2 trillion worth in 2020. The national debt was listed at $21 trillion at the end of 2020. So the destruction of the housing market, which was already accomplished in the late 1990’s thanks to the libs loan tactics and lies, and the debt accumulation of every president and the times 2 effort from Obama, in our history, is just a small application to the loss that’s going to happen. And what’s going to happen to taxable income or worth if it has no value? You may see this one in court.

I hope you're right and I think you're right but I recall that rent control was held to be constitutional and rent control is only a slow motion attempt to transfer ownership, or at least elements of ownership, from owner of the property to tenant.

This proposal is but an aggressive version with the same objective.
