Just had outrageous experience at Target.com
Target.com | 3/11/21 | Me, Myself, & I

Posted on 03/11/2021 5:07:56 PM PST by EinNYC

I wanted to purchase a new saute pan to replace my old one. My cooking gear is very important to me, so I did a lot of research until I chose the pot I wanted. And then I found this very expensive pot ON SALE! Whoo-hoo! I tried to order the pot on Wayfair, only to find that other pot connoisseurs had beaten me to all available stock at that terrific sale price. I'd have to wait for the next shipment. That date kept changing, getting delayed. I did some searching and found the pot was also being sold at Target.com, online only, for the same sale price. But it was also out of stock. I signed up at both websites to be notified when it came in. So an hour ago, I received emails from both Target and Wayfair that the pot had come back in stock. I'd only had to wait about 6 weeks, that's all.

I was ecstatic, and went first to Target's website via the link in their email. I tried to put the pot into my cart, only to see a message appear: Sorry, this can't be shipped to your zip code. In a box below was the word Why? I clicked on the box containing Why? and the following appeared:

"We work hard to offer the same selection to all our guests, but some items have shipping restrictions based on zip code."

So now I am being discriminated against because of my zip code? I live in a decent neighborhood and I can't order something because of my zip code?

I'd like to hear from some FRiends whether they've had any experiences like this, whether with Target or another store. And I'm going to inquire of Maryland's state consumer advocate whether this is legal. I think Target is now off my list of stores to shop in.

Wayfair had no qualms about my zip code, although they were charging $4 more for the pot now that it's back in stock. Well worth it to get my pot shipped to MY zip code without prejudice.

I have seen this happen in the past with both Best Buy and Home Depot. It turns out that the supply chains are not providing coast to coast 100% equivalent items, Some items seem to be available in some regional distribution centers, and not others, and sometimes they won’t allow an item available in a southern California distribution center, for instance, to be shipped to just any other distribution center. only some. They seem to think losing your sale is less cost than moving single non-stocked items too long of a distance.

Tramontina is good but has become pricey like the others, but unlike many others it still works.

Do you live in a rural area far from a high-density metro area? I’ve been denied shipping to other areas because the major shippers just don’t service sparsely populated regions.

It wasn’t Elaine’s zip code, she was on the wrong side of street.

I live on a 1/4 mile long private drive that serves 4 houses. GPS sends every driver to my next door neighbor.

I made a 2 x 3’ map showing the road and house number locations just as you come off the public road and they still get it wrong. “Yeah, I saw the sign but I figured GPS would take me there.”

I had to put very large house numbers on signs pounded into the ground on the front, back and sides of the property and they still get it wrong.

“In Hawaii we go through this all the time.”

Barack used to sell pot in Hawaii. He may again since has now bought a mansion on Oahu.

I didn't go as deep as you, but I got that original message about not being able to ship to my area. That was the first time I'd ever gotten that message.

This is what cancelation looks like!!
