Even with hope on the horizon in this pandemic, what's the point of ever leaving home again?

Everything is a risk.

A year ago, this was our last normal weekend and we didn't even know it. Now, we're deep into a pandemic, with ever-rising Covid-19-related deaths, a new strain on the loose and news of people still experiencing symptoms months after testing positive.

But as more people get vaccinated, it finally seems like there's hope on the horizon. Eventually, someday soon, the joys of normal life will return. And yet, we have to ask: Why bother? What's the point of ever leaving home again?

Getting dinner, grabbing drinks, working out, seeing a movie. All these comforts of middle class existence in the Before Times are gone, and it could be another year until it's completely safe to return.

And after months of pandemmy life, those of us who are lucky enough to work from home have gotten really good at this stay-at-home thing.

Bars? Simply overpriced drinks. Concerts? Too many sweaty armpits, way too close to your face. Gyms? A house party for germs.

Of course, the pandemic has been a tough time for millions of people -- as many are out of work and mental health struggles continue. Here are some ways you can help.

But still, maybe introverts were right all along: Why go out when you can stay in?

“She is free to stay home forever if she wants to. “

You got that right. We have been to a movie, traveled to see friends, out to eat, to the parks and a mall.

We refused to be controlled by the democrat governors who were all on a power trip.

I’m a senior, had covid19, been immunized, and am leading a normal life because I refuse to be a puppet.

Life is there for the living so you folks better get to it.

We;re social beings. More people will die, alone, in despair, isolated. No stimuli except the propaganda of fear?

She’s about one step away from sticking her head in an electric oven and wondering why her head is getting hot.

Why she stays home a lot.

Then again, she has some good points. Going forward, I'd rather BBQ and share a bottle of wine with friends on my back patio, than go out.

I gave up movies a while back because they all suck now, but otherwise, I get bored at home and I like getting out..

I’m guessing she has more than a few cats.

Why go out when you can stay in!?

Surprisingly, that basically has become the unsaid mantra for my wife, many of her friends and female relatives here and across the country.

This coming Sunday will mark our 3rd week post 2nd vaccine, and I asked her if anyone from her two lunch groups and she were going to lunch. She said no.

I want to go out to eat lunch outside to celebrate our 1 year of “Surviving the Great Pandemic” anniversary. We will do that on 13 or 14 March.

A SIL in the Midwest got her 1st vaccine early this week and her sisters also. They are looking forward to having lunch together in one of their homes or maybe outside in April in one of their favorite restaurants.

*** Now, we’re deep into a pandemic, with ever-rising Covid-19-related deaths***

Hey, sweetheart, the CoVid related deaths will NEVER go down, because they can ONLY increase. Better wrap that fact around your pretty little head. (To the author, not the OP.)

If we don’t start mingling Covid 19 will not be the only thing killing us. It’s our ability to become immunized by overcoming germs and virus. Hot house people like hot house plants will not be strong enough to survive outside their warm cocoons and will perish. Fear is only overcome by love. We need each other.

Laf. As for me, I just bought a couple new dresses and ready to start meeting my community.
I have been a loner for too long. And this past year made me really know it.

The cats go out more often than she does. They probably have more interesting lives and social interaction as well.

It's not about what you'd rather do; it's about having the freedom to make the choice.
