That’s okay. Once I left my dysfunctional family, moved 3000 miles away and stayed there, my reaction to Catholic education was to become an atheist. I’m happier that way.

I got confused, too. Seems POTUS is in charge of calling up the NG in the District of Columbia, and the Defense Department executes the call.
Otoh, seems the Capitol grounds are another question, doesnt it?
Then, that dog of a mayor injects herself into the question on behalf of specifically, the City of Washington and rejects all forces.
But, then the Speaker of the House is reportedly chatting it up with the Defense Department, directly, wanting big guns, asap.
Nevermind the Senate Majority Leader, McConnell, who is silent and only blinks through the whole event, until which time the bell rings and he steps up to turn rabid against the POTUS.

I remember reading this a couple of months or so ago when NG first started appearing in DC. And Act.Sec Def Millers confirmed on his twtter (his twtter account no longer available as per my searches unless it’s archived somewhere) that neither Pence nor Pelosi had anything to do with authorizing the NG, it was Trump who requested.
The second article (snipped heavily) is almost pure BS fakery oped but does state that only POTUS can request DoD for NG. This is all a push for statehood for DC, that is another reason for the faked/FF attack on the Capitol. I know that the FBI warned the Capitol cops as they had read online people (who, obviously not MAGA people) planning attack that day, and Capitol cops along with Nanzi and Schumer did not want any more security, they refused it.

This federal announcement was quite astonishing because, as the story noted, “investigations into sexual abuse by clergy members have historically been handled exclusively by state and local authorities.”
