In Alpine today, 26-year-old Devon Portillo admitted to lying to FBI agents during an investigation into the source of a racist text message purportedly sent by Portillo’s election opponent, announced U.S. Attorney Ashley C. Hoff and FBI Special Agent in Charge Luis Quesada, El Paso Division.
Appearing before U.S. Magistrate Judge David B. Fannin, Portillo pleaded guilty to one count of making a false statement to a federal agent. By pleading guilty, Portillo admitted that in June 2020, he was running for election against another candidate when FBI agents interviewed him about a racist social media text falsely attributed to his opponent. Portillo denied creating the racist text message. He later contacted the FBI and advised that the text was authored by another individual whom he identified to investigators. However, in a subsequent interview with FBI agents, Portillo admitted that he had indeed authored the fake text message and that the individual he identified as the author of the text had nothing to do with its creation.
Portillo faces up to five years in federal prison. He remains on bond pending sentencing. Sentencing has yet to be scheduled.
The FBI investigated this case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Mallory J. Rasmussen is prosecuting this case.

Oooohhhh....! They did a job on Richard Jewell. They Killed Randy Weaver’s wife, dog and son. They’ll do the same to you and not suffer or regret at all. We are just “game”, “sport” to them.
They do whatever they want now. Laws, rules, morals... It means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to them.
Better yet... Pull a “hillary clinton” and say you don’t remember. No matter what they ask you, just say “I don’t remember”. If they ask you where you live, you say “I don’t remember”. If they ask you what your name is, you say “I don’t remember”... F’em! But even this doesn’t stop them from “manufacturing” evidence against you, which of course they have done and will continue to do.
Have they gotten to 100% with all these fake crimes yet?
That only works if you have powerful political connections. Better to say nothing at all.
The reason the FBI was involved is the creep (Portillo) who lied about this and attempted to fake a hate crime was a Republican.
The FBI doesn’t give a damn about the hundreds of fake hate crimes committed by democrats, commies and black radicals. But they DO CARE if a Republican fakes a hate crime. (something so rare there’s not even a category for it)...
The FBI is the thug arm of white liberal ‘elites’, commies, progressives and the hundreds of weird gender/sex types... and ‘hole of choice’ people...

I don’t think it was Portillo running as a Republican that brought the feds in. I think it was more Portillo making accusations against a sheriff and using the internet (phone) to do it. I think internet crimes are federal because the internet ‘crosses’ state lines. (I might be wrong) but if a republican candidate stoops this low, we don’t need them in our party.
