WASHINGTON, Tuesday, March 5.

THE CABINET NOMINATIONS CONFIRMED.

The Cabinet appointments, as sent to the Senate, and immediately confirmed to-day, are as follows:

Secretary of State -- WM. H. SEWARD.
Secretary of the Treasury -- S.P. CHASE.
Secretary of the Interior -- CALEB B. SMITH.
Postmaster General -- MONTGOMERY BLAIR.
Secretary of War -- SIMON CAMERON.
Secretary of the Navy -- GIDEON WELLES.
Attorney-General -- EDWARD BATES.

The Cabinet nominations were all confirmed without objection except in the case of Messrs. BATES and BLAIR, against whom some Southern Senators voted. No other nominations came in, nor have any others been decided upon. The new Cabinet meets to-morrow.

As soon as the confirmation of the members of the Cabinet was made public, the office-seekers began a raid upon them, of course with no view but to pay their respects.

I hear again to-night, under circumstances which lead me to put some faith in it, that Mr. CHASE may resign the Treasury after all. The question is expected to be decided early to-morrow forenoon.

Some of the Congressional delegations met to-day to discuss and argue, as far as possible, upon the men for the important offices in their respective States. It is understood that Hon. J.Z. GOODRICH, the present Lieutenant-Governor of Massachusetts, will be recommended for Collector of Boston. Mr. HUMPHRIES, ex-member of Congress from New-York, is strongly urged by his friends to apply for and accept the Surveyorship of New-York. He would prefer to go abroad.

In his reply to the Massachusetts Delegation, Mr. SEWARD said he could not speak for the Administration, but hoped and believed that before the close of the present Administration, Massachusetts and South Carolina would again grasp the right hand of fellowship.

"Editorial: A Bloody Programme – 7-8"

The language & tone from both North & South suggest that many people expect war to begin at Fort Sumter, and that Confederates would welcome it as necessary to bring Virginia into secession.
