The Star Trek franchise is heading in a new direction on the big screen, with Star Trek: Discovery writer Kalinda Vasquez set to write a new, original Star Trek movie.

Paramount Pictures has set up a blind script deal for Vasquez for her to write an original movie based on an idea she hatched, according to Deadline.

J.J. Abrams will produce the movie through his Bad Robot Productions company, though it's unclear if he'll come aboard to direct as well.

He's dead, Jim...considering how I have heard nothing but how awful Star Trek Discovery is and JJ Abrams mediocrity record with Sci-Fi might as well put the franchise on ice for a decade.

How many transgenders will there be? All of them? That’s not enough.

The first was awesome, the second mediocre, the third sucked.

I give up.

If it’s woke, and just about everything freaking is anymore, I won’t watch.

Period.

Too bad that TOS was cancelled after only 3 years. Imagine another 4 years of the good stuff... All the others ran longer.

Ha! That was my first thought too. Just rename it Star Woke.

All Star Trek series viewed against their respective moments in history were Woke.

Star Trek has become woke LGBT, anti-white nonsense.

Last good series was Deep Space 9, a blatant rip-off of ...

Babylon 5

which was much more realistic.

First, a disclaimer. I watched the original Star Trek on television way back in the ‘60s (Yes, I am that old!). I loved it then, and still do.

Although I anxiously awaited each new movie as they came out, and each time went to the theater with my friends, the last few iterations of it were so bad, especially those directed by Abrams, that I now have NO excitement whatever for this new version. If it turns out to be decent, I may watch it on Prime someday.

Well, I hope this Star trek has the correct mixture of racial quotas, gender quotas and sexuality quotas otherwise we will have to protest it. And God forbid if they have a male Mr. Potato head in it

My favorite part of the reboot was the kid Kirk racing his Step Dad’s Corvette.

I wouldn’t mind it if they made a movie out of the STTNG novel Vendetta.

The Doomsday Machine
VS
The Borg

“Well, I hope this Star trek has the correct mixture of racial quotas, gender quotas and sexuality quotas...”

Hah! It’s a big universe with more “creatures” that now have to be represented. The Enterprise is gonna get awful crowded with the correct percentages. Might as well rename the Starship Enterprise to the Starship Ark. Heck...having sex on board could actually border on bestiality.

One of the best series was totally fan made with very good props to continue, and end the origial series, the 5 year mission. Its available on youtube, I think it was 11 episodes, all dressed and recreating the Kirk Spock, McCoy, and the actors did an outstanding job.

But CBS refused to let them....continue.

Its called Star Trek the New Voyages, I highly recommend it.
