FX's American Crime Story anthology has cast Edie Falco as Hillary Clinton in its next season, which covers the impeachment of former President Bill Clinton.

The multiple Emmy winner will join the A-list ensemble of Impeachment: American Crime Story, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Falco will star with Sarah Paulson (Linda Tripp), Beanie Feldstein (Monica Lewinsky), Clive Owen (Bill Clinton) and Annaleigh Ashford (Paula Jones) in the limited series.

The cast also includes Betty Gilpin as right-wing pundit Ann Coulter and Billy Eichner as Matt Drudge.

Falco's deal to play the former first lady, New York senator and secretary of state has been in the works for months and recently closed.

In 2019 FX chief John Landgraf told THR that Hillary Clinton would not be "one of the main characters" in the story. The casting of Falco, however, would seem to indicate otherwise.

I remember when the original was filming in San Francisco 30 years ago. Dykes were actually protesting the shoot, as apparently they’d got ahold of the script and were unhappy to have lesbianism associated with a violent, sociopathic character.

I do remember gays being not happy with the film...

In the film, Sharon Stone's character talks about her days at Cal Berkeley...She had an affair with the girlfriend of the detective (Michael Douglas)...

Yes which is why I said she’s already played the aggrieved wife in that post....with that role in mind

And played it well

Her and Dominic Chianese were to me ....the two journeymen most accomplished actors who were regulars on the good standard of a show

Buscemi and Loggia were more transitional

Edie has pained face....when she wants....it really carries that sort of character

I wonder if they are going to do the bedroom fight scene between Bill and Hillary where she finds out about the latest bimbo eruption and starts throwing stuff at Bill?
I’d pay good money to hear a recording of the actual incident. It was supposed to be a humdinger.

Billie Hayes wasn't available?

If she doesn't look familiar, here is probably how you remember her
