How do you propose they do that and still keep the same kind of quality that Rush always seem to put forward?

They can't, I predict the 600+ radio stations will begin to change their schedules and slowly drop the show. It is hard to listen to only recordings of him, knowing it will never be the same again, don't know how many will hang around, for how long. I heard one producer say they will continue the show as long as fans want to listen.

I was traveling across the state today and at noon automatically tuned in to Rush, but I was out of my home station’s range, starting searching for a local station carrying the EIB network and had a similar thought, that it won’t be long before radio stations start dropping the show.

knowing it will never be the same again

I remember when I started going to concerts in the 1980s, lamenting that I would NEVER see Hendrix, The Who with Moonie, Led Zeppelin with Bonzo, Skynyrd, and so on. "It's all downhill from here."

I thought that as I saw classic Van Halen, Frank Zappa, Deep Purple, Live Aid, The Police, Queen, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Gregg Allman, The Four Tops, Buddy Rich, Sarah Vaughan, and other performers.

In many ways, it got BETTER.

Yes, grieve. But the next guy or gal we hear behind the mic - perhaps someone known like Wilkow or Steyn or someone unknown - will likely be the source of awesome memories and wisdom still to come.

There will be another Rush Limbaugh, but he would say to us it’s time to move on. There are some really good conservative talkers out there. You mentioned Andrew Wilkow. Another young up and comer is Charlie Kirk. It could also be an unknown just like Rush was back in 1988. I’m sure Rush thought about his successor before and during his illness!

That was one of the questions I had, for Kathryn, the other day when Mark Steyn ‘interviewed’ her about all things El Rushbo.

That, and, did he have any profound thoughts, near the end, about how we best turn this ship away from the tyranny we now face.

I’ve been a big Rush fan since early 90’s. I was not always able to listen every day. But I was always, and still am, and will be, a fan - forever.

For Daly current events, yes we will have to move on. But Rush spoke of things that were, are, timeless. Undisputed truths.

Your second question is one I would of been fascinated to hear Rush’s take on that. For the almost thirty years I listened to Rush he always advocated political means to defeat the left, but from the Obama administration to the Trump years, and to the end of his life I think he took on a more somber time knowing the left was winning the cultural and political battles far more frequently against a hapless GOP. I’m sure he either recorded or wrote out a final farewell to America that Kathryn will release to the public at some point down the road!

I’m certainly hoping so.

And, looking very forward to it.

Even though it could possibly be what we don’t want to hear.

Rush was a one of a kind talent, we’re not likely to hear the likes of him again.

As another poster mentioned Paul Harvey, another unique talent. Ditto Johnny Carson.

Entertainers like these transcend their medium and connect with their viewers/listeners on a different level.

I like Jay Leno. I enjoy his car videos. But he’s no Carson. I used to like Mark Davis, until he tried to be Rush, and forgot how to be entertaining. (Instead, it feels like he’s just become ... unctuous.)

I feel like even Rush fell into the trap of being too serious toward the end. Quite understandable, but I think that one of the reasons for his great success was his ability to make you laugh at the absurdity of the left.

And that’s why they hated him so much.

Find me another radio host who can clearly express conservative values, and radiate joy and laughter at the same time, and maybe we can think about replacing Rush.

Is Sean Vasmity taking over Rush’s time slot?

Good Lord, Let's hope not!

They probably will. Being a slave to the dollar, they will want live shows that are about up-to-date issues. Just being honest here, though it pains me to say it.

I’m re-watching the last show and I’m thankful for Rush 24/7.

I was telling a friend how sad it is that we can’t go city to city and find Rush everywhere.

Rush was one of the very few constants in my life for the last 32 years. I began listening on day one and also have an autographed photo with my name on it hanging in my office. Cool story how I got it.

I hope they shutter EIB and open the time slots to the incredibly talented talkers who followed Rush’s lead. That will be his legacy
