I’m glad that .380 can still be purchased. Obviously at a premium price (supply and demand). $2 a round!

Even birdshot shotgun rounds are hard to find and double the price.

At $100 for a box of 50 I’m not surprised that “Cheaper Than Dirt” has .380 in stock. The cost to reload a box of 50 is under $5 even now. No sale.

If you are having to stack the boxes in the yard you might have just about enough.

LOL!! Prolly the best measurement yet!! What I was really interested in was people’s thinking behind their reasons. My investment comment wasn’t about making money but having resources for my kids. I have expect is that my son will get my two guns and ammo.

Oh, I know, but it is supply/demand and the supply ain’t there. I forget which site, but they were advertising just ball 9mm at $2/rd. I think if it’s ever needed, there will be plenty.

How much can you store?

Beware of expiration dates (some ammo has that detritus). But, keep what you can store, and cycle through new batches by practicing with the oldest rounds you have.

Just my humble opinion.

I’ve sat through a lot of debriefs of exercises and operations:

Said No One Ever: We had too much ammo.

Figure that no matter how much you have, you are a couple of thousand rounds short.

That plan should include mags.

A couple of viewpoints:

1. "Mags," what are these "mags" you speak of? Belt fed is the only way to rock 'n roll.

2. Any ammunition you own that is NOT in magazines is NOT yours. It is still in the supply system.

Cool! Then you know what you’re doing, and can probably even get the good chemicals, too.

If the axis of the earth tilts because of your ammo supply, you have too much.

Until that time, you don’t have enough.

How much is enough?

No clue. It's always a work in progress.

For now, this is pretty much me and all my old military buddies:

Ex:.38 revolver and recommend 500 rounds or AR15 5.56 and 1,000 rounds.

This depends what kind of scenario you're preparing for, and what you're doing.

Current times, maybe a little more gets through from the Dems? You don't really need to stock up much. Several thousand rounds in any given caliber should cover you several months.

Future apocalypse, Dems got everything they wanted? No amount is enough.

How much do you burn up? If you go to the range and end up dropping mag after mag (easy to do with an AR/semi-pistol, not so easy with a bolt-action/revolver), you might drop 2M rounds of 5.56 once a week, another 500 or a thousand on 9mm/45. If you're just sighting/practicing for deer season, you might go through 100 rounds of .270 or .30-06 for the one trip out. So 1,000 rounds could easily be the whole winter, or it could be half a trip to the range.

As a rule, no more than 1,000 rounds of each caliber for each weapon.

That's not very much for some stuff. Taking the AR to the range, you burn through mags in no time. 1M rounds is 35-50 mags. You can burn that in a couple hours at the range without even trying. And if you expect to have several range trips worth of ammo, not to mention on-hand stock for SHTF/anything else, you'll definitely want way more than a measly 1000 rounds!

“ Learn that all you have stored is immobile, ”

If you can’t pick it up and run with it you don’t really own it.
