South Dakota’s attorney general — who said he hit a deer after fatally striking a pedestrian last year — allegedly had the victim’s glasses inside his car, according to newly-released interviews.
The state’s Department of Public Safety on Tuesday released recordings of investigators questioning Jason Ravnsborg about the Sept. 12 crash that left 55-year-old Joseph Boever dead.
The footage shows how, during a Sept. 14 interview, detectives told Ravnsborg that they had discovered a pair of broken glasses on the front passenger floorboard of his vehicle. During a second sit-down on Sept. 30, interviewers asked about the glasses again, telling Ravnsborg that they had belonged to the victim.

No. The sentence is poorly worded and, besides, compromises the presumption of innocence. The sentence should read something like, “ ... who said he hit a deer when he might have actually struck a pedestrian.” As the sentence reads, he first hit a pedestrian and then he hit a deer.
They often do weigh similarly to humans. Looks, not so much.
Correct. A split second. I saw the deer a split second before hitting it (which you didn’t); and, we both saw the deer a split second upon hitting it. That moment went by very fast. There’s obviously no time to stop or even to try to swerve (which would be very dangerous). You just have to rely on the safety devices built into the car. Presumably, the deer dies instantly.
With respect to a human being hit in the manner of a deer, there’s got to be questions. Deer will cross (or attempt to cross) a highway with cars wizzing by at 65 mph. But not normally a human. Hence, the state police are investigating.
Shortly after I moved to south Louisiana, I was riding in a car with a coworker who pointed out the proliferation of road-kill armadillo decorating the roadway. He said, "I bet you don't see anything like that up north." I told him in my native western PA, it wasn't exactly like that, because it was deer instead of armadillo.
He thought I was kidding.
I notice that the paper buried Noem’s call for his resignation at the bottom of the article.
There’s nothing in the middle of the road but a yellow stripe and dead armadillos.

Amazing.
So, let me get this straight.
You hit a deer and keep driving?
Once again the article can’t tell you jack shyte about what happened.
Did he flee the scene, and the police found him later?
Did he turn himself in when he heard of the death?
Im thinking the guy hit the man, by accident, and fled the scene.
Anyone know the facts?
2011 Ford Taurus
huh?
“He was on his way home from a GOP fundraiser at Rooster’s Bar and Grill, where attendees were offered the chance to win a handgun engraved with then-President Trump’s name, according to the South Dakota GOP’s website.”
Whole point of the article...
More like Barnaby Jones.
Prosecutor: AG briefly walked by crash victim who was hundreds of feet from where his car stopped
What the headline doesn't add, for whatever reason, is that the sheriff was at the scene and missed the vic, too.
Wow! He was defending himself!
I was up in Maine some years ago, and was driving my car back from Acadia National Park one night, and...a deer appeared in my headlights out of nowhere, as if it were teleported right there in front of my car.
I had a vision of the “Deer in the headlights” look for a split second before impact. A nanosecond slice of time that left a Polaroid snapshot in my brain.
The deer went flying off the road and into the woods, and the bumper of my car was caved in but not otherwise seriously damaged.
We walked over and peeked into the woods, but no sign could be seen of the deer.
When we were talking about it, I said that it happened so fast, and I said I had heard someone in the car involuntarily yell out “Arrrrrrrrrrghhhhhh!”
They all turned and stared at me, and said “That was YOU!”
That’s sort of weird and creepy. At least it was only the victim’s glasses and not his head.
I dunno.
“The glasses from the guy he hit were in his car. So I’d say the victim got out and then the AG hit him.”
As an “I.D. Addict”, I think this is what could have happened: The glasses were in the car because the victim had removed them before he and the AG engaged in sexual activity. Victim said he was going to spill the beans on the politician — blackmail. Politician whacked him, removed him from the car, and ran over him. (I watch too much Investigation Discovery.)
In many areas, deer approach the status of vermin, large economy sized rats on the hoof.
I saw the car...The window looked like it was kicked out. Doesn’t seem like a flying body would do that especially since the passenger side panel bumper would have changed the velocity of the “body”.
