Folk singer Peter Yarrow has been accused in a new lawsuit of raping an underage girl in a Manhattan hotel room in 1969.
The accusations were lodged against Yarrow, the founding member of legendary ’60s trio Peter, Paul and Mary, in a Wednesday Manhattan Supreme Court suit that was brought under the Child Victims Act.
Before the alleged rape, Yarrow met his accuser, who was a fan of his music, several times at his band’s performances, the suit says. He then “took an interest in her,” acting what in what the minor thought was “paternal way,” according to the suit.

“Sounds like there may be some new found booty($) forget the pun”
Yep, it’s all for the money now. If it didn’t bother the girl for 50 years, then something must have changed.
But how does one defend himself after 50 years, not that I give a crape about him...
BINGO! Unless proved up, should be a nice big fat defamation lawsuit! These accusations need to be claimed close in time to the ALLEGED event. Otherwise, publish at your own risk! Too many nutjob females running around.
I always found it odd that Peter was known as a perv and Paul wrote the Wedding Song (There is Love) for Peter. Paul has been involved with a local charity.
I had friends who were groupies for PP&M. They followed them and went to their concerts whenever they were in the NY New England area. Chaperoned by their 35 year old sister. Drove them to their airports or met them before and after concerts. I think that sometimes they all had coffee together.
Pretty wholesome.
Once one of them had a kiss on the forehead by one of the group. I cannot remember who.
Mackenzie Philips?
A friend in the late 70’s dubbed them “Momma Rock” and it stuck. People from Leo Sayer to Elvis were Momma Rock. We’d be playing cards in the dorm, one of their songs would come one and he would yell “My mom’s not here. Turn that schick off”.
Paul was actually at our church recently and I didn’t go because I didn’t recognize his name.
Unless your first name is Hunter and you're an "expert" on the oil industry.
This stuff needs to. If I was on the jury, I would be skeptical of accusations of very-long-ago crimes (unless the crime had been reported promptly, but it took a while to find the perp).
Doesn’t sound like a criminal case.
it’s a lawsuit to get some $$$$$
Yeah, if I were on a jury, absent an actual admission of guilt, I'd have a lot of trouble convicting on something like this that allegedly happened so long ago.
Memory is a weird thing, and the passage of time does not help it.
Wonder why she didn’t come out with this when he was outed years ago.
Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin kidnapped a 15 year old. Believe Ted Nugent at least married a girl he “met” when she was 15.
Jeeeeez. I was in Nam when this happened. Give it a rest.
“Wonder why she didn’t come out with this when he was outed years ago.”
Years ago a rock star nailing a groupie didn’t raise many eyebrows.
That’s one of the reasons for statutes of limitations: to prevent a person from being severely punished for something that wasn’t much of a crime when it happened.
I believe in justice for victims, but this is ridiculous.
Of course, I’ve heard pedophiles says their victims were “throwing themselves at them.”
Many statutes of limitations were replaced or repealed during the ‘90s, when insanities like the Wenatchee witch hunt were in style. It took the focus off of homosexual coke/meth parties and drug dealers.
