Folk singer Peter Yarrow has been accused in a new lawsuit of raping an underage girl in a Manhattan hotel room in 1969.
The accusations were lodged against Yarrow, the founding member of legendary ’60s trio Peter, Paul and Mary, in a Wednesday Manhattan Supreme Court suit that was brought under the Child Victims Act.
Before the alleged rape, Yarrow met his accuser, who was a fan of his music, several times at his band’s performances, the suit says. He then “took an interest in her,” acting what in what the minor thought was “paternal way,” according to the suit.

This is old news. We have known he was a pervert for decades.
Is my math off or was this fifty or so years ago?
As in half a century?
Hey little girl, do you wanna see Puff my little dragon?
~ fifty-two years ago. I looked it up, and he’s 82. I don’t care much for counterculture creeps, but what happened to statutes of limitations? Our society has been more rapidly going nuts with obsessions with sex for more than 30 years, and too many of the lawyers are liking it.
after all this time
i dont believe her
Not all crimes have a statute of limitations.
Where have all the minors gone?
Long time passing.
Where have all the minors gone?
Long time ago.
Where have all the minors gone?
Deflowered by Yarrow every one.
When will you ever learn?
When will you ever learn?
No Limit
Many states do not have a statute of limitation in place for some forms of rape or all rape offenses. These states include Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Delaware, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
Reading this source, it seems the other source may be wrong, as this source says rape was extended to 20 years at most:
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed legislation Wednesday that extends the statute of limitations for certain cases of rape and other sex crimes.
He was joined at the signing by actresses who have been active in the Time’s Up movement, which aims to combat sexual harassment. They included Julianne Moore, Mira Sorvino, Amber Tamblyn and Michelle Hurd.
Under the new law, the statute of limitations for reporting second-degree rape increases to 20 years and third-degree rape increases to 10 years. Previously, both were five years.
So if CNN is accurate, for a change, then it appears it is beyond the limit of statute, unless the raping of her is considered a first degree rape
Below is the definition of 1st degree rape in New York:
Section 130.35
Rape in the first degree
Penal (PEN)
A person is guilty of rape in the first degree when he or she engages in sexual intercourse with another person:
1. By forcible compulsion; or
2. Who is incapable of consent by reason of being physically helpless; or
3. Who is less than eleven years old; or
4. Who is less than thirteen years old and the actor is eighteen years old or more.
Rape in the first degree is a class B felony
There is no statute of limitations for rape in the first degree.

The legislation extends the period of time in which victims of second- and third-degree rape can take legal action from five years to 20 and 10 years, respectively. There is no statute of limitations for rape in the first degree.
hey, they can accuse dead priests of an incident 50 yrs ago so why not?
Long ago, and, oh, so far away

That song was written by Bonnie Bramlett and Leon Russell, based on an idea given to them by Rita Coolidge.
Which is mentioned at the Wikipedia link provided in the title.
Band member/groupie interactions weren’t exactly isolated events back then.
Or today, for that matter.
Exactly. And this is newsworthy now for? Just now coming forward?! Sorry but no credibility IMO.
I remember hearing about this incident 50 years ago. Nothing came of it and it faded faded away...until now.
Sounds like there may be some new found booty($) forget the pun
Next on the lawsuit list must be Led Zep and The Stones. They were all “doing” groupies back then w many at 15 years old. By they, I means lots of the classic rock bands that toured. The girls were throwing themselves at them.
Just listen to the lyrics by Grand Funk Railroad.
I’m more interested in how menially ill an accuser must be to come out 50 years after the alleged event.
