TEXAS POWER CRISIS THREAD: Once it was clear that the polar vortex would engulf the entire state of Texas @GovAbbott declared an emergency and asked President Biden for an EPA waiver to allow power generation facilities to operate at full capacity until the emergency passed.

Biden's EPA refused Governor Abbott's request and instead offered to allow certain power generation facilities a waiver if they raised the prices they charged to Texans to more than $1,500/MWh resulting in massive statewide power outages and a failure of the grid.

This senile old fart and his handlers are killing America. I used to give liberals, now commies, some slack for ruling by their bleeding hearts and not reason. They get no more from me. They are my enemy.

Will this be reported in the MSM?

Perhaps when this happens:

What do you think is Fake News? Have you read the Department of Energy Order No. 201-21-1?
Read it. Biden’s DOE would only allow Texas to produce the extra energy it needed to cover the weather caused shortfall if that energy was sold at a minimum of $1,500 per MWh. Biden created this crisis.

No more credible source than the Department do Energy website. Go to the horses mouth. Look up DOE Order No. 201-21-1.

Abbott should have taken the deal, then created a tax on the power generators if the excess amount over the usual price, then announced power welfare to the citizens paying extra. Dems love taxes and welfare, so how could they say no?

I just posted an excellent video from the Epoch Times with an interview of Jason Isaac from the Texas Public Policy Foundation. It explains well what actually happened and the dangerous position we are in if we dont address these issues.

Green energy (solar. wind) = unreliable energy in a crisis, government policies are rewarding unreliable energy at the expense of traditional power generating sources.

Very good advice. But it does fit with the media campaign they launched against the governor, and more recently Cruz.

They have the media as well as the political power and police ; they will not waste a second of this opportunity.

What to do? It seems the 'press' (electronic and dead-tree) is the weak link. It's how they won their power over the last 30 years. Off topic but it seems this is just a facet of a grander strategy.

The title reads “EPA” but I wonder if it was the DOE actually.

If Abbott had a backbone he would have told the power plants to go ahead and run full out and he would take the blame.

That is what a leader does.

That is what we lack.

Looks like it should be fake, but the order (201-21-01) appears to be real and does indeed authorize $1500/mwh for electricity:
