WINDERMERE, Fla. —
Former Major League Baseball player Johnny Damon and his wife were both arrested early Friday in Windermere after a traffic stop.
Damon was charged with driving under the influence and resisting an officer without violence, Orange County Jail records show.
Damon’s wife, Michelle Mangan-Damon, was arrested as well and charged with resisting an officer with violence and battery of a law enforcement officer.
Damon was pulled over around 1:30 a.m. by Windermere police near an entrance to the Isleworth community after an officer said he was seen swerving on Conroy Windermere Road, before striking a curb and a guardrail.
In an arrest report, the officer wrote that Damon was asked how much he’d been drinking and said “just a little bit,” while making a small pinching motion with his fingers.
The arrest report said Damon was “extremely unsteady on his feet” and his speech was “extremely slurred.”
While police were speaking with Damon, they said his wife got out of the car, despite officers' orders to stay inside. When the officer tried to push her against the car Mangan-Damon turned around and pushed the officer. As she did this, police said Damon stepped between them and a fight ensued.
During the struggle, Mangan-Damon broke away and walked toward the community guardhouse near where the stop occurred. A second officer on the scene took her into custody.
The report said the officer then asked Damon if he would perform a field sobriety test, to which Damon said multiple times that he would because he is “a big boy.”
Police said that after Damon had been arrested he consented to taking a breathalyzer test. The first time he blew a .300, and the second time he blew a .294. That is nearly four times the legal limit in the state of Florida.
Damon was a baseball standout at Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando and went on to play in the major leagues for seven different teams. He was a key member of the 2004 Boston Red Sox World Series championship team.
Uh,no...........any wealthy town in the US would be unaffordable for policemen.
.
You thought it was...like a Health Spa??
“Reducing the BAC limit from 0.10% to 0.08% does nothing...”
It’s not supposed to reduce drunk driving, it’s supposed to increase fine revenue.
Here are houses for rent in Beverly Hills
Apts., which I wasn't even aware they existed, might be doable.
.30? Geez, I was just a piker at .17....
The wife getting arrested too is the funniest part!
I mean come on if you’re operating the vehicle when you’re drunk fine but the passenger? The wife?
They must of both been hammered
Johnny Damon was married to my ex-wife’s sister until 2002. I knew him when he was in high school and he was quite a nice, well-mannered kid then. My daughter stayed with Johnny and his former wife Angie for a couple months when he was with the Kansas City Royals. My daughter thinks a lot of him.
Weird story: Angie flew in for my daughters graduation in 1996 and we went out to dinner afterward to a local steakhouse that had a TV near the front door over the greeter’s station. When we walked in, I was standing next to Angie and we both looked up to see her husband Johnny was at bat in a game against The White Sox. On the very next pitch he jacked one over the fence and our whole family cheered loudly... much to the bewilderment of those around who didn’t understand our sudden excitement.
I recall when Damon and his wife were divorced and he quickly hooked up with Michelle Mangan.
People were pretty surprised around here. All sorts of talk about how she broke up his marriage. Who knows.
I met him once. Seemed like a nice guy. Pretty quiet.
I personally know people who rent house in Bev Hills. It’s not as glitzy as some people think and just like cities there are sh*tty parts and good parts. I’ve been west of the Century City side, inside the BH zone 90210, and been to “nice” homes where they rent. $2400 is around the average. The most recent was 3 struggling actors I know of, who split the rent etc, and take whatever jobs they can get. The zip code is the selling point..90211 aint gonna cut it.
Yeah, I think if that was my wife, I’d drink a lot too...
I went to a party in Laguna Beach one time with a friend of mine. Neither of us knew anybody at the party, but we sure had a good time. The house sat on a bluff over looking the ocean. Beautiful house and view. 8>)
Oh yeah, I always liked Laguna Beach. Been to Newport Beach more than a few times and went as far as Dana Point. One of the writers for NBC who wrote for Knight Rider and A Team lives there. Same thing, the house is jutting off a mini cliff and you can walk from the house to the beach. I’ll only go that far if I knew the crowd and most were closet Trumpers thank God. Because we were all drunk, he opened up a lot of guest rooms for us to sleep in until the morning where we went home.
Most people are passed out at that level.
The LD-50 (lethal dose of alcohol) is 0.50
Meaning 50% of people with a BAC of 0.50 die as a result.
Johnny Damon must be a long-time alcoholic to even be conscious at 0.30.
Yep, that’s another thing, a lot of mentally ill are in there as well. They wouldn’t let me wear my glasses because they can be used as a weapon so I was basically blind the entire time praying I wouldn’t get into a fight. I didn’t sleep the whole freakin’ weekend, it was like an insane asylum from a 3rd world country and obviously they want to keep it like that as a deterrent and it sure as hell deterred me. I was busted in Nassau country which is like a country club compared to what I heard Rikers is like.
Olympic Blvd goes through Beverly Hills...I drove on Olympic Blvd many times and saw the apartment buildings near Olympic Blvd...
Beverly Hills High is near Olympic Blvd...Right before Century City...I think some people decide to rent in Beverly Hills because they want to send their kids to Beverly Hills High School...
Or Robertson. I know of this private postal center on the 90210 side which has a waiting list and many companies made that their mailing address, even when their physical business is up the street.
